If you haven’t drilled the tubs yet I would use this tek instead.

I prefer modified monos regardless. Polyfil also can suck my balls.

Similar to the other Pasty EZ thread. Ran thease in a less than ideal, previously unused area. A/C blowing & minimal light. The Ez dialed from the other thread will weight heavier. Not bad for an old tub from storage & no playing about with pollyfill. Thanks yet again Pasty.

What do you mean with modified exactly? You prefer the mp tape ones? Or the ez dialed one?

I prefer a tub with holes over one that doesn’t.

I've been struggling to stop my unmodified tubs from drying out this summer with the AC running all the time. Been considering both of these teks - can you talk about why you prefer your EZ dialed tubs over micropore? Really curious.
Thanks for putting all this together, you rule.

I prefer the Ezdialed tubs over micropore because once the tub is drilled it’s done. I don’t have to change the micropore or adjust it. I don’t need to worry about it getting dirty or nasty. It’s just that simple.

Are the micropore tubs superior in any way? Can you achieve better control with them? I guess you could slap some micropore on the ez dialed tubs and achieve the same sort of control.

The micropore method was developed as a way of dealing with the issue of poly on the original Ohmatic monotub design. My EzDial tubs are a different design. Micropore is how I fruited my old monos that I made way back. The new EzDials are how I’m making tubs going forward.

Hey pasty ! I’m currently trying this tek out and I was wondering .... so as I layer the holes is it layered like the pics you shown from the day I put in the sub into the tub til harvest ??? Is it a set and forget ? Now when it’s fully colonized how do I trigger pinning besides the light ? Do I just leave the layered tapes how they are and they just wait for them to pin ?? Thank you !!

It depends on you and your environment on how set and forget it is but, generally I would do it as per the OP from spawning and let it run with an occasional misting depending on the time of year. However I no longer use this method and run only my ez dial monos now.

I tried this tek and it worked well enough. After 3 flushes of Hawk's OG PE, there was zero contam. Also, 3 flushes with the A++ with good results. Thanks Pastywhyte.

Big visions - the tub design won't shield you from contamination, you didn't get contamination because you had clean spawn. Pasty tubs are good because they allow fae and evaporation to occur consistently.

I started with Pasty's tubs they allowed good FAE for me. Typically I had contam it started with my spawn. Just a newb point of view.

My fruiting room is in a less than ideal location and my last run using shoeboxes got allot of contamination. So I´m thinking about trying this method, hoping that the micropore tape (as well as opening the tubs less) will help with reducing contamination.
You guys agree that that´s a good strategy?
And also, do I need to cover the holes completely with normal tape during substrate colonization (to increase co2), or just stick to micropore during both colonization and fruiting?

If you’re worried about contams by the time you’re putting tubs together it’s already a losing strategy. Make clean spawn and you can sneeze boogers into the tub with no issues.

Hmm you got a point! So I'm switching to the other method I think! (only holes, no micropore)
Thanks!

Hello everyone,
I have been having to mist my micropore tubs daily, sometimes twice,in the morning and at night before bed.
Am I ALWAYS supposed to have the wet, glisten on the surface (let it evaporate before misting again).
I use a flashlight to shine the surface and see if there's the "glisten"...
Are monotubs TRULY set and forget,
