Alright, lets see how it turns out. Now I have a couple of questions though, how do I know when to harvest? Like these ones look ready:

But these fat tanks?

And then I noticed this morning around 2 fat boys, YUK! What in the bloody FUCK is this? Slime mold? Secretion? Definitely straight to the dustbin right? EW!

Thanks for your help guys. Cheers

Most people pick fruits right as the veil breaks (the tissue connecting the stipe or stem) and that seems to be the best as far as potency and looks go. Hope this helped!

Thanks for this - Are you letting these colonize and consolidate with micropore tape? Or, are you covering those holes for a few days and then adding micropore instead of poly?

What size is this tub? and what size do you use for your mini mono?

My regular size monos are 66 quarts. But I would consider anything under 40 quarts to be a mini mono.

Do you still do the same size holes in a mini?

Hey Pasty do you think this method would work well in a tight small closet with two tubs stacked on top of one another? I'm trying to decide between this method and bods method of no holes with lid flipped.
My containers just fit snug in the closet and door has about 1/4-1/2 inch space for air flow. I'm concerned mostly about the air flow in the closet since it is so small. Any advice?
Can post picture of closet if it would help.
Using two 66 qt sterlite containers.
And not sure if this has been mentioned but as far as lighting goes, i'm going to be using CFL 6500k, Would putting those on top of the tub be best by making space in between the tubs or can I just aim them at it from the side and works the same?

Side light is fine IMO. They should be fine in a closet IMO. I would advise leaving the door open if possible. These are 66 quart sterlites as well.

Thanks for the reply man. Alright good to know about the lighting, and as far as leaving the door open I was going to try to keep it semi-stealth but if push comes to shove I could leave it open. What do you think about putting a small oscillating fan in the room with the door shut? Would that provide enough for FAE? Wouldn't point it straight at the door as not to possibly dry them out.

So for my environment, once a dense pinset comes in and starts maturing from pins to fruit, i remove the top two holes of mp tape until harvest. The moisture is so high and the flush maintains the rh. Room rh is always 50-55%. Thats about all ive been doing. Working as well as it did in 2009. This image below kind of illustrates the point at which i remove the top hole mp tape.

Some results. I have a poor light situation. Wg

Are you doing these in a closet? Those do look fantastic and I see you are using the classic monotub with two holes long side and one hole short side. I just want to choose holes in my tub that would give the most amount of control over FAE in a small confined area. So you leave the micropore on all 6 holes until nice pins then remove the top two (holes on short side) to give it an increase FAE? I'm getting a digital hygrometer so I can test the RH in the closet and room and see what i'm getting. The reason i'm so indecisive on how I should make my tub is because of the environment. I really like pasty's dialing in but I feel as I am a noob and this will be my first that maybe I should go with the normal 6 holes with MP. Here is the closet I will be using if that helps with any suggestions for my indecisiveness.

The area which i'm going to be putting two tubs and picture of it with them in closet.

IF I can get a first successful go in the closet with two tubs I will be upgrading to 4-5 as I have extra space for it I just need to figure out what tub would be best for such a small space area wise.

Im really digging the ease of using micropore.
However, Im noticing that while the majority of the monotub is holding proper surface conditions, a small area in front of each bottom hole lacks any sort of beading moisture on the surface. Seems to be drying out just a touch in front of each hole.
Should I add another layer of tape to those bottom holes, or just hit it with some misting once a day? The pinset is coming in beautifully, but Id hate to have 4 small areas drying out over time.

I’d give it a mist if it’s just a bit of minor drying.

Look, yes in a closet that simply has a 6500k bulb in the light fixture. Stacks of 5 tubs.

Good to know eat! Yeah I got two 6500 bulbs with clip on reflectors. I'm trying to figure a good place to put them since the space is limited. I was going to just put them right on top of tubs facing down but when I get a few more going I don't want 5 lights. Plus I'd have to put two tubs near the top (there is another shelf not in picture)
Do you think I could get away with clipping them on the bottom of that shelf? Maybe facing them to each side for more ambient light?

I know Pasty said side light is fine I'm just not sure if the tubs on top would be getting enough light if they are so far down when I decide to get a few more.

I got 2 bulbs for 20 tubs. Put it in the center of the closet. You will have to play with it to see if you can get even light distribution. Maybe one high one mid level. It looks like you have some shelves that might cause some issues with even light. I have everything off to one side so shit grows at an angle but it still works. I didnt wannna wire anything in so the bulbs work perfect in the closet fixture. I might put one under that shelf and one at the top. Also, they make led bulbs that are very thin now and would fit easily under that shelf. I have some that are 12 inchs x 1 inch width. Half inch thick.
These are rechargable led stip lightS. But i stopped using them due to having to recharge daily. Anyway you can sew how thin they are.

Ive used side light but all my fruits lean towards it.
Old setup

Hey there, great threat! I'm just about to start my second grow after my initial grow box run which went fine. I read a lot about monotubs and think that's the tek I want to try out (together with the mp tape).
My main question now is do I need a fan doing this? (nevermind the question about the fan)
So I'm wondering (since the sterlite boxes used in bod's tek are not available right now where I live) using these boxes: https://www.amazon.de/Iris-All-Weather-herausfordernde-Lagerbedingungen-transparent/dp/B06XXD4DSP/
Should I close the lids, drill holes and go for the micropore tek or just let them unmodified and leave the lids upside down?

I always prefer allowing for wiggle room, as there are too many variables that can throw off your conditions.
I use polyfil to help dial in tubs as it is a bit easier to reduce the polyfil by ripping it out of the hole, taking some out and re-rolling it. Set it up and give it a few days with measurement tools in the tub (thermometer, hygrometer) and try to create your fruiting conditions.
