You’re totally correct man! I totally was confused as to the tek I’m responding to let me try again. Guess that’s the risk of having too many active teks.

So after adding spawn to substrate, do you just kind of "set it and forget it", adjusting tape as needed? Is there anything you do differently with the tape in colonization vs fruiting?
I do just set it and forget it with the exception of some minor adjustments if needed. Basically if it looks dry add a bit to the bottom holes or if it looks wet remove or adjust the coverage of the tops. Etc, you kind of need to tinker with it as you go.

Hahaa no worries. I guess I am just confused on 1 thing: Do I leave the micropore tape on the monotub holes the entire time from the beginning of adding in colonized rye berries all the way to the end through fruiting and harvesting?

Hey Patsy, on average how many days after you add your colonized rye, etc to your monotub do you start seeing pins? I'm starting day 11 now since I added my colonized rye to my tub, and wondering if my conditions are not dialed in or if I just need to be more patient? I am using 2 layers of micropore tape covering half of all 6 holes, with 1 layer of micropore covering the other half of the 6 holes. Essentially top half of hole= 2 layers, top half of hole= 1 layer.

Would love your insights on the above if you get a minute. Trying to figure out my first attempt with your micropore monotub tek. No worries if you are busy though

Here are some pics for reference:
I didn't tape holes with duct tape from the start. I used micropore take since putting spawn in the tub. I do have condensation on the sides of the tub and do have small water beads on the top of substrate. The beads aren't huge though.
Thus far I have been monitoring, but have just let it do it's thing in 12/12 ambient room light. I have no fan in room as humidity is about 30% this time of year. I have not misted to this point.
The substrate is white and fluffy, smells "mushroomy" with no signs of coloring. I am attaching pics for reference. *Note: there is a blue hue that comes across in the corner of a few pics. This is glare and reflection and not actually blue in person.
Any thoughts why no pins yet? Suggestions as to what I should do/change?

Maybe a little mist might not hurt but I would say that it looks okay overall. Be patient, sometimes it takes a while especially if you are growing a PE variety. I have had tubs take upwards of a month to pin.

So I’m finally coming back around to the micropore tape. I had 2 rolls left from 10 years ago I need to use up so why not. I’m doing a tub with em now.
Here are some old examples of when I used to use the tape in 2009ish.
Totally forgot about these. This had no fan either.

A month?! Wow! I had no clue some took that long.
Talk about delayed gratification. ⏰

Thank you for this.. I had questions on how to "dial in" a tub and this helped to clarify things.

Knot City

This is the best tub design I've experienced, at least in my room. One question, when should I increase fae for pinset to develop? At this knotting/primordia stage or when slightly more developed and they reach like an inch? Cheers! Excited about this one

Yeah but im beginning to only use the top holes these days
I use micropore for all filters now and dont see any difference to polyfil or posh filters. Its so convenient I dont know why everyone doesnt use it.

well if you have to tape 20 tubs then it can become work. I usually fruit the stones in the jars. Took me longer to tape 3 tubs than it did to spawn 3
