I haven’t told anyone about what I’m talking about. But the principal is similar.

so ive been using the micropore tape on my monos now with some pretty good sucess. i have had a few issues but im 99 percent sure it was other factors because ive been doing the micropore tape for a while now and it always works better for me than polyfill. seems to give more consistent results. now for some reason whenever i see guys like mycotek or prof p i i think hes known as on here on ig and shit using poly i feel like im doing something wrong by using micropore. honestly im just suprised everyone dosen't use it just because of how easy it is and how it saves space. nothing worse than a big cluster getting blocked by a fluff ball. lol i have had some hard ass PE's push right through my micropore tape. i had to just pop it back in and re tape. love that strain. mostly... but ya do you guys notice any negatives to micropore tape or any reason to use poly? also ive noticed using the right brands makes a difference i used some non 3M shit once and it kept falling off.

Glad you like it. I also have noticed off brands of micropore have poor adhesive. I should update the OP.

Made one of these bad boys with a 66 qt tub few days ago. Sub is colonizing pretty nicely. Gunna let it rock then peek at it in a week or so for surface conditions

My tub is 9 days in from spawn and the surface conditions are good, tiny beads of water on surface. I also see knots starting. Should I leave it as is, or should I add a lil more FAE?

Been doing this since day one, micropore is the shit but some glossy plastics just do not stick to micropore, Ive considered sealing hoover hepa replacement filters to boxes but the efficiency might have problems

Yo Pasty, what's the surface area of your mini mono substrate? I'm doing some calculations on ratios of substrate to vent area (bottom holes). Would be cool to have some numbers to compare as a characteristic of different mono tub with Micropore setups.
I calculated the area of your bottom holes (heh!) to be 15.3 cm2 (2.4 in2) from your specified 2x 1.25 inch/hole. (Yeah sorry, metric is just so much easier to deal with.)
I'm currently experimenting with a setup that uses a sub/vent ratio of 74. Multiple 10x 12cm bottom holes with single layer Micropore, taped shut or exposed as needed. You might see the usefulness of a sub/vent ratio here...

I will probably make one or multiple dedicated post(s) later. But it would be nice to have your numbers to start with. Not the least because this is my actual first bulk grow. (It's going well so far.) No I'm not one to follow a tek to the letter. That's just not who I am.
Thanks.

Like pasty said get 1 inch wide tape not 1/2 inch. Look for gentle paper tape. I get it at walmart where the band aids and stuff are.

I put them into fruiting when I spawn them.

Pasty this is super helpful, thanks!
So after adding spawn to substrate, do you just kind of "set it and forget it", adjusting tape as needed? Is there anything you do differently with the tape in colonization vs fruiting?

There is no tape. I just spawn it and leave it. Done. If you live in a super dry environment you should either not drill the optional holes or tape them (and only them) during the spawn run.

When you say no tape, are you not using micropore tape anymore?
And if/when you do use it, are you only leaving the micropore tape on during colonization and then taking the micropore tape off of all drilled holes during fruiting?
Right now my room air is pretty dry at around 30-35% humidity. I appreciate your wisdom man!

The micropore is a totally different tek meant for a standard monotub hole configuration. This is new and what I am using now. I lost most of my old tubs.

Ok cool. I've heard great things about your tek! I guess I am just wondering if you leave the micropore tape on after mixing your spawn (colonized rye, etc) into new substrate (coco coir, etc) AND while fruiting? I read the thread but wasn't sure if you adjusted/took micropore tape off during fruiting?

I think pasty might be a little confused as to which thread he’s answering to lol. I’m guessing he thinks this is his other non-Micropore tape tub configuration. Or I’m just confused and further confusing everything
