Love this!
Do you tape it like this right from the beginning during colonization?

So I have 1.5" holes on my monos. The dry rings around my bottom holes are 4-5" diameter, is this to big? I know with the poly stuffed tight as shit the rings diameter was only like 2-2.5"
also I'm curious what is your grow rooms rh and temp?

Do you just leave the tape on, or do you apply fresh tape every time you spawn a tub?

I would apply fresh tape with each grow.

I like and I just happen to have a 66qt Just hoping to have enough spawn or I may just have to do a mini or a couple of shoeboxes.

Micropore tape isn't needed for shoeboxes.

I can tell you now that holes or polyfill are not needed for shoeboxes.Check this link out. Making Shoeboxes

Do you cover these with non breathable tape during colonization?

No, I let them colonize the spawn run in fruiting conditions. Elevated co2 for spawn run is old thinking imo and any benefits of elevated co2 doesn’t apply to cubes.

If you were making a new mini, would you still make the standard large holes, or would it make more sense to make more small holes (say 6 x 0.5" in place of each 1.25"-1.5" hole)?
Just thinking that the rationale for large holes is mainly for stuffing poly (so not relevant anymore), and smaller holes would allow more precise dialing in (no need to overlap tape & could add / subtract layers on a few holes at a time). Also perhaps more even airflow from spreading them out across the bottom?

If I was making a brand new tub I would use 1/4” holes in a different configuration entirely. There would be no need to dial it in as it would already be completely dialed in to begin with. However I’m not looking to discuss that here. The purpose of this writeup was to allow people to have an alternative to poly in tubs initially created for poly. But you’re correct that smaller holes would require less resistance to maintain RH/FAE balance.

Thanks! Don't want to take this thread off-topic, but if that configuration is written up somewhere else, would appreciate a link - have been binge reading the past few weeks but don't recall that specific tek. Thanks again!
EDIT: Dug around some more. Are you talking about the configuration you mention in this? https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21032606
