Habitat: Found in a field in northern bc, Fort st. John area. Growing on the ground, dogs and deer often are seen here. Was told to look for mushrooms which look like a woman's nipple.
Gills: The gills are purple/gray in color and are attached to the stem.
Stem: Length 1-2". diameter 2-3mm. color is off white to gray. stem is firm and solid.
Cap: Diameter is about 1 inch. Color is white with a dark nipple in the center. Conical and concave towards the stem.
Spore print color: Purple to blackish.
Bruising: Difficult to tell if the mushroom bruises, possibly slightly blue/gray.

You will need to head in the direction of cow fields. Ones that have or recently had bovine in them. You will be looking for psilocybe cubensis that will be growing directly from dung. They sometimes have pronounced nipples. The caps range from off white to dark brown or gold. Sometimes you will see purple on the caps which will rub off. Those are spores from it or other mushrooms of the like directly around it. It will most of the time have a skirt or veil underneath the cap that will collect spores after the mushrooms mature and the cap breaks away from the stem exposing the fleshy veil. And most importantly you will look for blue bruising which is a common indicator although not always an indicator of psilocybes.
What you have are not magic. Good luck in future hunts.

Thanks for the input, although I was under the belief that psilocybe cubensis did not grow in my area.

Now what I believe you are looking for is psilocybe cyanescens
Here is a list of psilocybes you can hunt.
British Columbia Gymnopilus luteofolius Panaeolus cinctulus Pholiotina cyanopus Pluteus brunneidiscus Psilocybe baeocystis Psilocybe cyanofibrillosa Psilocybe cyanescens Psilocybe fimetaria Psilocybe pelliculosa Psilocybe semilanceata Psilocybe sierrae Psilocybe silvatica Psilocybe strictipes Psilocybe stuntzii Psilocybe subfimetaria
You are lucky to have such an abundant amount of actives to hunt.

"Found in a field in northern bc"
I doubt you'll be coming across many cyans in Northern BC. Lower coastal BC is littered with them in urban and suburban areas.
My guess (totally a shot in the dark) is that Liberty caps Psilocybe semilanceata growing in manured fields is your best bet. That would be the nipple like cap described. They grow from tufts of grass in manured fields. Sometimes there will be Panaeolus cinctulus growing directly from old manure.

Yes, please make your own separate id thread. It would be doubly inappropriate seeing as we are talking about actives in northern BC and you are in Florida.
