this was priceless. 30-50F is t-shirt weather when you're in the upswing of a Canadian winter I do think that pasty here knows the most about parka weather my friend . I really wouldn't sweat too much about the temps. If you don't have to wear a jacket inside, your jars are just fine. Last winter I colonized and fruited in ~60-68F just dandy

Everything froze here 'bout a week ago. I have to run a space heater to keep my grow room at 70.

Why not a tub in tub incubator? On the rare occasions Ive needed an incubator the TIT worked well, just set the temp to mid to high 60's and raise the jars off thr bottom of the tub

It got down to 40f last night, that's like 4.5c or so. Although day time was mid 70's.It's like this until mid october here in the NE US. I did however shut the window in my grow room where I set my terrarium . Mushies haven't seem bothered by it in the least and I'm in the middle of a flush.

Yea Ive grown mushrooms on my porch where it gets quite chilly at night, they do well- a bit slow but certainly a lot denser
For colonization however, temps below 60 certainly slow things down to a halt

Because that requires more tubs although I considered it. I found a post from 9 years ago Road Kill was describing how too do it. But I mean at what point does a mycologist say "enough tubs and enough jars" My home is full of them! Even jars I Probably wont ever use! I got some free pint wide mouths today because one was broke in the pack at work. But their jars, I cant just say no.

Cambodians put out a lot of heat when colonizing. Never hurts to have some going.
Also I would use a glass jar, like a pickle jar or something for the heat bomb. I wouldn't be able to leave a heater in a plastic bottle on when I left my house but I'm all about being safe.
Like others have said, keeping your jars warm enough shouldn't be a problem. Once jars take off the heat they produce on there own plays well to keep them warm. Hell you could probably just put them in a cheap styrofoam cooler and the heat they exert colonizing should be plenty to keep them in the rapid growth temp range.

I think this is sound advice. I am nervous for this batch since I'm really really wanting pe swabs so I'm over complicating things. I never do heat bombs I just knock up and leave em sit usually. It has been making me anxious leaving the house with the water bomb honestly.
