What is your worst restaurant experience ever? 5

So me and 9 other friends went for the 3 am denny's dash drunk as fuck one night. This was roughly 10 years ago.
On the way to the restaurant my friend in the passenger seat leans out the passenger window and literally engulfs the side of the jeep with vomit, he's actually a poster here.
We get to denny's and he is just hanging outside of the jeep puking all over the parking lot......Ok buddy you are staying outside.
The 9 of us go inside and get the three tables pushed together thing, all seated and drunk as hell babbling about dumb movies and sex and fights, typical drunk banter. There's actually a couple elderly couples sat across the room, and a younger couple right beside us.
We order our food and keep being loud and obnoxious. Drunk denny's....you know.
Our food come out and I woof mine down pretty quick, I just kinda inhale food for some reason. One of my friends also finishes his meal and we decided to go check on our buddy in the jeep outside and smoke a cigarette.
So we check on him, vomit EVERYWHERE, down his clothes, in the jeep ( it was his jeep, thank god we took two cars and didn't let him drive ) and all over the ground.....ok you're getting it out....hang in there champ.....
We go back to the front door and smoke a cigarette. Suddenly the couple that was sitting beside us come out the door laughing hysterically. The guy walks up to us and is like "You two wanna see something cool???"....."Sure I guess".......
The guy pulls his pants halfway down and just starts shaking his half hard cock around laughing hysterically. My friend and are just "WHAT THE FUCK MAN!?!?!" and the couple run off, jump in their car and bolt.
So my friend and I go inside about to tell the group what just happened, and they are fucking flipping out and screaming. None of them are seating everyone is standing up arguing with the waiter.
I'm like "Woah calm down guys, what the fuck just happened, I just had some dude whip his dick out at me outside. It can't be that bad."
My friend starts ranting "Well it was probably the same couple! This guy and girl come over to our table and the girl literally sticks her hands in my drink and M's drink and splashes it all over us and our fucking food, then says the guy just got a hand job under the table over there and she needed to wipe clean off her hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The waiter is refusing to move us tables, refusing to make any food over, and refusing to hear us out. I went drunk dumbass style on him.....
I slammed my hands down on the table and screamed "NOW I COME TO DENNY'S FOR A GOOD FUCKING HOMECOOKED MEAL. AND WHAT DO I GET??!? DICKS IN MY FACE AND SPERM IN MY EGGS!!!!!!!"
The old couples eating just look appalled and sit their utensils down.....the waiter is like "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN I CAN ASSURE THERE IS NO SPERM IN ANYONE'S EGGS"
My friend that was had one of the cups she rinsed her hands in picks up some of his eggs on a fork and screams "I DUNNO PEOPLE, I THINK I KNOW SPERM WHEN I SEE IT, AND THESE EGGS ARE RIDDLED IN FUCKING SPERM!!!!!!!!!"
The waiter is trying so hard to get us to be quiet but I'm just like "dude you aren't offering to make anything right, I am not trying to scam you here, you got a guy whipping his dick out in the parking lot, and now we have sperm all over the damn table and you aren't doing anything about it, we are not paying for this meal!!!"
He refuses to have any of it. He demands we pay or he will call the cops. I tell him to call a manager above him. After about 15 minutes of going back and forth about sperm soaked eggs, the old couples leaving in disgust ( it didn't look like they had to pay either ) the waiter finally folds and gives all 9 of us the meals for free and takes my information down.
We leave appalled. Told the half passed out puke covered dude in the car what happened....."Mannnn I mis all the good shit."
I actually got a call from dennys corporate lawyer in the morning asking what I was trying to "gain from dennys" I didn't realize at the time I probably could've been over compensated out of court for what happened, but I told him the free meal was good enough, but his server was a complete asshole about the situation.
I still tipped the server 10 bucks.
tl'dr Someone jerked off on us at dennys and we didn't have to pay for 130 dollars worth of food.

Mmmm, outside of working at one, nothing too bad.
Going to some late night Diner on acid, having people try and start shit, running their mouths and what not. Typical south Florida weekend.
Eating at a shitty restaurant near the Vatican where they're literally microwaving leftovers infront of you, then receiving a bill for like $200 because each shitty tiny little item was apparently like $15.

You know whats a great feeling? Being mildly hungover, and stopping by a quality, empty Chinese restaurant first thing in the morning. Best hangover food ime

Haha good story. My worst experience was probably when me and my dad were fighting these 3 drunk guys at a bar/restaurant because the big 300 lber thought my dad was "checkin out his woman" or some dumb shit like that. Dude threatened to kill my dad and beat him with a chair while one of the other guys held him and I was on the last guy. Then my dad knifed the dude across the face and got sent to jail for almost a month.
All my other restaurant experiences have been a good time

Marilyn Manson -- Grand Slammed in the Face at a Denny's
Quote:
Goth rocker Marilyn Manson got more than two pancakes, two eggs, two pieces of bacon and two sausage links during a trip to Denny's this past weekend ... he allegedly got clocked in the face!
According to our sources, Manson had a concert in Alberta, Canada on Saturday night and hit up a local Denny's around 2 AM. We're told Manson got into an argument with a group at another table, and at some point allegedly called a guy's gf a bitch.
The guy was pissed, and we're told he responded by punching Manson in the face.
Police confirm there was a disturbance at Denny's that night, but no charges were filed and the case is closed.
We've reached out to Manson, and he's going on the attack for what he calls a "sucker punch."

Not exactly THIS bad but my worst restaurant experience involved a very rude waiter and very slow service.
When you serve you SERVE. I dont expect you to be on your knees grovelling but I expect a polite attentive attitude. Serving isnt just putting the right foods on the table, its providing an experience that reflects upon the entire restaurant.
None of us returned there ever again even though the food was good.

I ain't got a worst one, oddly enough. I got plenty of fucking magical ones though. Like sharing a plate of sashimi with my wife, talking about getting married, and going 'fuck it, yeah, let's do it'.
It don't sound magical, but it fucking was.

Made for a great Denny's brunch for sure
Im surprized we didnt get caught

True as fuck. We still laugh about that shit. I miss being 20. It's like we weren't even legally allowed to be drinking, nor should we have been driving. The end result was too much.
If we are counting mcdonalds I have multiple times order mcgriddles int the morning and they just gave me the buns lol.

Once i went to denny's with my girl and i was feeling frisky so i asked for a handjob. This fuckin old couple kept distracting me and then a group of drunk goofs came in and they were being so loud that i almost lodt my boner. Like hows a guy supposed to get a danny's HJ with all these fuckin people around.
So i finally blocked out the horny old woman watching us and 2 of the drunk people went outside so i could finally relax a bit.
Then i jizzed. It was an extra big load so my girlfriend had to get rid of it quick. She washed it off in the drunk guys drink and THEY got mad at US. Can you beleive it? They just interrupted our intimate moment. The least they can do is take some juzz off our hands.
So we ran outside because at this point the drunk guys are freaking out over a little jizz. I saw the other drunk guys who went outside and i whipped my dick out to distract them while my girlfriend got away. It was a close one.

OMG what the fuck, I would be so upset about that.
I once tried a Thai restaurant that was the worst Thai I've EVER had. The curry tasted like dog food. The place was empty and there were only 2 other customers besides us. Another person came in to order take-out. I could hear a microwaving going off in the kitchen every time somebody ordered something. It was sooooo obvious they were just microwaving old food.
When I asked the server if they were microwaving the food, she lied and denied it. Then started talking in Siamese to the manager or owner who was there, presumably about the fact that I knew that their food was microwaved.

Lol...I've been to a lot of Asian restaurants where the waiter is rude. Usually if you're younger they'll speak down to you. If my mom or somebody older goes into a restaurant they get totally different service from me or my friends.

I've had bad food, less than ideal food, and bad service on occasion.
Probably the "worst" experience was years ago when I was at a RuthsChris steakhouse. I was celebrating come type of special event (can't remember what). Shortly after ordering, I sorta notice an elderly couple sitting right next to my table and the guy is getting concerned. About 10 minutes later, its clear the lady is having chest pain.
My steak comes out sizzling, followed by a stretcher and a small army of EMTs. They're continuously working on the lady while bumping my arm as I eat. Just as I get the bill, they wheel her out.
Not her fault or anything, but it certainly ruined the moment.

When you serve you SERVE. I dont expect you to be on your knees grovelling but I expect a polite attentive attitude. Serving isnt just putting the right foods on the table, its providing an experience that reflects upon the entire restaurant.
None of us returned there ever again even though the food was good.
Did you or your friends tip?

OMG what the fuck, I would be so upset about that.
I once tried a Thai restaurant that was the worst Thai I've EVER had. The curry tasted like dog food. The place was empty and there were only 2 other customers besides us. Another person came in to order take-out. I could hear a microwaving going off in the kitchen every time somebody ordered something. It was sooooo obvious they were just microwaving old food.
When I asked the server if they were microwaving the food, she lied and denied it. Then started talking in Siamese to the manager or owner who was there, presumably about the fact that I knew that their food was microwaved.
it probably was dogfood too

We had food challenges at one of my old jobs
Guy "had to" eat a can of catfood
He apparently enjoyed it enough to start bringing catfood in for lunch Not trying to be racist, but he was Asian, not sure if he thought it was actually made of cats

I don't have any really bad restaurant experiences other than the food sucking and the waiter being complete shit. One story I do have involved mcdonalds.
I was in a mcdonalds, and a bunch of guys came in all at once, and beat the living fuck out of one of the customers. Like, stomped him after he was on the ground, really, really bad. You could hear how hard they were hitting him. I don't know if the guy lived or not. I got the fuck out of there.

All my worst experiences were when I worked at a restaurant.
The worst one was when I was bartending(though we served great food so it counts), and a couple of rowdy drunk guys who I was serving got kicked out by my manager earlier that night. When I walked the 6 blocks home at 3 am they were still hanging out nearby, saw me, and started to follow me pretty aggressively on foot, I can't really remember(this was about 4 years ago)what they were saying after I heard them yelling after me to wait up, just that they were following me and talking between each other about me pretty loudly. They were catching up pretty fast and I kept telling myself my house was a couple blocks away, and that if I started to run and these guys were not just all talk that they'd catch up sooner than I'd be able to get to my door, so I kept powerwalking and trying not to break into a jog.
Just as they were about to catch up I took a sharp left onto my porch, where luckily on a late wednesday night, several of my phd/grad student/misfit roommates were chilling and drinking together in our very visible living room, and it was okay. I saw them walk past my house like a few steps I imagine, because 5 seconds later I saw them walking right past again and looking at the house. I didn't tell my roommates and it didn't really hit me until the next day, but I remember I broke down and cried a little because I had already been robbed at gunpoint and I sincerely felt like these guys intended worse for me.
second worse was the disgusting neckbeards who tipped me 6.69 while I was working at applebees once...it's a pretty large margin of separation (jk I've had a few worse ones but they're not worth mentioning)

This one is pretty bad:
I had a bag in my pocket of about 5 grams of deschloroketamine. I took it all to work with me like an idiot instead of just taking a doggy bag. I had intended on doing a couple bumps after my shift since I don't drive.
Well I was sitting behind a dunkin donuts and I pulled a debit card out and I did a bump. I was like eh fuck it, and pulled out a second bump which was WAY bigger than I intended. I went to put some back in the bag and it fell onto my work shirt, which was untucked. So I did the second bump......didn't wanna waste any....and ate what was left on my work shirt.
I don't know what I was thinking. Considering eating it is probably stronger than snorting it.
Next thing I know I'm sitting on a stool at the counter of this dunkin doughnuts surrounded by strangers, dunkin doughnuts workers, and paramedics.
Everyone's screaming in my face "CAN YOU HEAR ME!?!??! WHAT IS YOUR NAME?!??! DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE?!?!?!?"
I had no clue.
I saw one of the workers shirts and muttered. "Dunkin doughnuts?"
And the paramedic was like "YES!!! DO YOU KNOW YOUR NAME!!!!" And I said __________. The girl from dunkin doughnuts was like "LOOK HE'S WEARING A NAME TAG HE'S NOT LYING!!! THAT'S HIS NAME!!!!!"
So the paramedic took my coat off so he could run vitals on me, and when he took my coat off the fucking bag of DK fell out on the ground......that's when I realized what the fuck happened and it started coming back to me.
I don't remember going into the dunkin donuts at all, I don't remember anything in between sitting on that rock doing the bumps, and then being screamed at with like 15-20 people gathered around looking terrified.
They said I was overdosing on heroin. They told me I needed to go to the hospital immediately. I kept trying to explain to them what it was, but I could barely talk. They said I either go to the hospital or they call the police. So I went with them to the hospital.
By the time I was there I was able to talk. I explained to them it wasn't heroin and it was a chemical called deschloroketamine. I had to take a urine test and it came back as PCP, I told them it was a false positive. I had to stay there about 2 hours before they came back and said they ran tests on the chemical itself, and it was in fact not pcp or any substance they had encountered.
By this time I am fairly lucid, but in god mode. I took my gown off and kept walking to the nurses station butt naked asking if they were going to call the cops, they'd say no go away, and I'd ask for my DK back, which they'd say no. They started getting pissed by the 4th time.....I didn't remember even doing it the first time......I was in a loop.
After someone came and got me. I remembered everything aside from the in between bumps and paramedics. God only knows where I strolled around too. The paramedics said the workers at DD called 911 because I was just sitting on the stool staring off into space with powder running out of each nostril, so they assumed heroin.
I got lucky as fuck no cops showed up.

Hot out the microwave! That'd be $10.
dont laugh. I have 2 stories about this...
my pops had a friend that took over a restaurant in town, he asked if I would help them get started since I'm a good cook and have experience in restaurants, I said sure, so I work for them for a week, the first day I'm getting familiar with the menu, it's huge and it's the same menu as the failed restaurant that had the place before them, I urge them to reduce the size of the menu, make it simple, easy and fresh. the food is 'country cooking' in a small country town where 2 other places do country cooking and both of them suck as well. anyway, these folks have 32 vegetables and all of them are from cans, large #10 cans, a #10 weighs about 6.5lbs, 32 different cans opened all at once, that's roughly 200lbs of canned vegetables sitting in steam tables waiting to be scooped out and slopped on a plate. nearly everything else is frozen and most of that is deep fried. almost nothing is prepped and cooked fresh.
breakfast is of course an easy meal to do, a little prep and most shit cooks fast other than biscuits but you cook those in large batches of about 30 at a time at a slow place like this one. I come in to start breakfast service and the owner's daughter who is supposed to be running the restaurant has been there for 3 hours, she's made about 200 biscuits, scrambled and fried shitloads of eggs, bacon and sausage, bologna (apparently it's a big seller), and some other meats. 5 people start driftng in, they all sit together, clearly regulars, they only order coffee, Maggie calls me out to meet them, tells them I'm a great chef, one asks to see my fingernails, checks that they're clean, he then orders a couple of eggs over medium, bacon, grits and hashbrowns, I crank it out, the guy is happy, says it's the best food he's had there in as long as he can remember, Maggie isnt happy, I didnt use the bacon she cooked, over cooked since it had been under a heat lamp for 2 hours. when you picked up the bacon it crumbled, the sausages and everything else was dried out and hard as a rock. it wasnt fit to eat.
after a week, a long and arduous week of defying her and cooking the dozen or so customers fresh foods and getting positive feedback from the customers, having cooked several things over the 6 days for her to try and her telling me it's great stuff but not what she would serve, I had to quit. she insisted on keeping 150 items on the menu, precooking everything and serving it like a cafeteria from the kitchen. I told her that when she's ready to actually build a business she should call me but if she insists on doing it the same way the previous owners did she wouldnt see more than the dozen or so customers each day and they would lose everything including the house they put up on the loan. they did
story #2
a place opened in the town I work, they had a retarded name, they also, like nearly everything else int he area, they did country cooking, no one really wants to leave their home for the same shit they cook for themselves, people want a change of pace, that's why chinese and mexican places do a booming business, even fast food and burger joints do well because they offer what isnt done at home as well. so anyway, the place is called Gran Gran's, that should be the first indicator to stay the fuck away
so it's my lunch break, I go in for a meal, thinking it cant be that bad, I look at the menu, it's simple, easy and shouldnt be too fucked up, maybe gran gran knows how to cook. I decide on the country fried steak, ok, a deepfried cubes steak smothered in white, pepper gravy, a side of green beans and some mashed potatoes. now I wanted a biscuit but ended up with some dry ass cornbread I didnt want, I mean it was really, suck the moisture out of your body dry
I mean damn, how can you go wrong with this meal. a southern classic

so I place my order and I whip out my phone so I could check my work emails and I'm just getting logged into it when the waitress brings my food and my drink out at the same time, now to me, that's a huge fucking alarm going off, I think my classic meal may not be what it's cracked up to be, I bet a lot is precooked and slapped on a plate and sent out. I look down at the plate and I can certainly say I've not seen anything like it. the potatoes are clearly from instant, I can mostly live with that, the beans were from a can, ok, I've had worse but the country fried steak was not something I was prepared for.
what I got, for $9 mind you, looked just like this, it looked disgusting, you could see it was a cubed steak, only one patty, but there was no breading, no deep frying, probably only dropped in the stuff it was boiled in and served with, which is the nature of boiling something in a steam table all day but it was completely devoid of all flavor, every single thing was tasteless, I mean the beans had a green bean from a can flavor but had no other seasoning, the potatoes had no flavor, tasted a little like wheat paste, the cornbread was like eating a handful of fresh cornmeal and I have no idea what the meat was boiled in but it was the kind of flavorless that robbed you of your sense of taste because the crumbly meat that just kind of broke down into sediment in your mouth as soon as it contacted saliva seemed to have absolutely no flavor and of course the texture was that which I had just described.
Gran Gran's: We Put The Gray in Gravy
*this photo is actually from their facebook page
I have many nightmare stories as a customer at a restaurant, these arent even the worst, gran gran's is just the most recent and for some reason, people give this place good reviews. granted, it appears their entire customer base is coming from the 3 story nursing home across the street, none seem to be under 70 other than the people that were dragged in to buy the meal for the old folks, I assume they're related somehow but gods damn. that place sucked.

That gran grans picture made my stomach turn. I've seen jail food look better than that. That country fried steak looks regurgitated.
Every time I go south, I always find places like that. I have honestly never had good southern home cooking in the south, I have had it here, but when I go anywhere in the south I end up at some of the worst places.
I'm not a huge fan of country fried steak, because I just don't like gravy for some reason.
Do you eat red eyed gravy?

thats awful, sorry to hear that Pris
Ive seen a bunch of episodes of Bar Rescue to know all about half-assed shitty cooking.
Reminds me actually of a resturant i went to in Puerto Vallerta, Mexico.
I bought the "fila minon with lobster". Sounded amazing and the price was good. i found out why later.
The Fila Minon was the most digusting piece of steak ever. Covered in gross gravy and awful taste and texture.
The lobster was even worst, looked real old, all dry and overcooked, no flavor, disgusting to the max.
shortly after eating some of it, i realised that diarrea was coming and coming fast. An hour after this awful mexican resturant, we had back to the hotel, which is like 2 miles away it seems.
On the way home, i had to shit VERY BAD. I thought i was going to shit my pants with liquid fire, it got VERY close during the walk. Luckily i got an ultra-tight butthole to keep it in
I could have just went in an alley, since it was dark, but i saved it for the toliet in the room. I finally made it there and emptied my bowels.
I totally forgot about that horrible memory. Thanks Pris for joggin my noggin

I make country cooking food all the time, but I'll still prefer country cooking diners over most other restaurants a lot of the time. I'll drive 45 minutes just to have lunch at Virginia Diner every once in a while. It's right next to the first commercial peanut plantation in the US so I always grab a few giant tubs of their honey/sriracha and Cajun spice peanuts too.

cracker barrel aint all that. I understand how they could draw travelers that want to try country cooking but why people in the south would eat there I dont understand, the food isnt that good. it's mediocre at best
I still dont understand why we have so many places that do country cooking/soul food, that's the shit you make at home, why the fuck are you paying people to cook what you cook for yourself. come the fuck on people, live a little. have a caesar god damned salad or something. go to fucking olive garden or applbee's and splurge

Never really had a bad one I don't think. The worst that really ever seems to happen to me is inattentive wait staff or food taking so long to get to the table I actually contemplate getting up and leaving (which is just really not the type of person I am at all, but after an hour, yeah..). I got a drink spilled on me once, but I didn't really get upset by it, shit happens.
The worst experience I've really ever had at a restaurant was as an employee as a dish washer and like my first or second day on the job. I came around the corner carrying a stack of hot pans (like instant burn hot) and ran into a waitress. Burned her pretty bad, enough to need to go to the hospital. I felt really shitty about it.

Last time I went to Cracker Barrel I sat across from this older couple and I watched the wife combing her fat slob husband's back hair that was all unruly and sticking out of his muscle shirt. I just thought "Yep..feels like Cracker Barrel."

i got food poisoned in Peru once. My brother and i stopped at a burger shop where they gave us really pink burgers. It didnt even look like beef to me. it was pink on the outside with no browning. I was sick by the sight of it, but my brother disagreed with me and insisted that it was fine, so we ate them and got pretty fucked

I dunno about you, but most of the people who try to do southern food that I've eaten, is pretty terrible. Actually a lot of it seems to be half-ased slop that they throw the "southern cooking" label on just to make themselves feel better about it. Yeah it's supposed to be simple, but simple doesn't have to be crap. Cracker Barrel is pretty much gourmet food compared to it. I can make good southern food, but sometimes I just don't feel like cooking it. It's pretty rare I choose a place like that but I do occasionally.
The only thing good at Olive Garden really is the Calamari and whatever that Sausage and Potato soup is. The Alfredo is hit and miss (more miss). The lasagne is just wholly unappetizing.

I was sent to get chicken at a place here in town, I dont like the place, it's more country cooking but my mom insisted, she told me to get a gallon of tea as well, I called the order in and it was waiting when I got there, I paid, left and got home, the chicken was dry as fuck, been under heat lamps all day as were the potatoes, but what got me is that they tea was sent out in a mayo jug, a 1 gallon mayo jug. ok, I can see recycling and shit, when I took the lid off, there was fucking mayonnaise floating in the tea. they didnt even bother to clean it out
in a classic case of 'country cooking in the south' that restaurant has been bought out several times, it's actually a great location for a small town the problem is, everyone keeps the same menu and the name. until those 2 things change I will not eat there because of the mayo experience

I always thought they should open a version of the cracker barrel that served like ribs, and watermelon, and fried chicken, with all kinds of sweet nick nacks like glass rose stems and char boi and call it the "blacker barrel".

That's just classic
I worked in a smokehouse, the owners stored all the racks (which hold meat in the smoker) outside, uncovered, exposed to the elements, rats, roaches, whatever happened to be outside in the open.

you guys should try a chicken fried steak using a thin sliced ribeye, pounded out and hand breaded, then home made white cream pepper gravy, home made mashed, fresh steamed green beans/broccoli/corn/etc... and fresh home made rolls, that might change a mind about southern home cooking. Oh and some "sun tea" to go with.

I'd rather just eat the steak seared. I don't get to buy good cuts of meat too often, seems like a waste to fry it and mask that beautiful flavor when it's pretty much the only reason I desire them to begin with. Not really concerned with the differences in nutritional value and there is a way to address pretty much any texture issue. It's flavor is really the only thing that sets it apart.

I buy the thinner ribeyes that are maybe 7-10oz and use those. 1 pounded out can serve 1-2 people if you have the sides to go with it. I use a lower cut of meat or some scrap ribeye that are thinner. Ribeye is my favorite steak though, and I would never ruin a good high quality thick cut one for CFS. I rarely eat fried food these days, but it sure is good sometimes. tip: go on a monday to eat fried food at a restaurant, they usually change the grease on that day.

Lol...I've been to a lot of Asian restaurants where the waiter is rude. Usually if you're younger they'll speak down to you. If my mom or somebody older goes into a restaurant they get totally different service from me or my friends.
I must say sometimes I find rude people, particularly rude young people, charming.
I have that with cats too, I just love when a cat is being an asshole with me, like when I want to pet and get shunned like "fuck that!"
It tickles my funnybone when I'm in a good mood.
I'm super polite and painstakingly hold myself to a high standard of conduct but sometimes when people are not, thats fine with me too.

Doesn't country cooking take a lot of effort though? I mean a lot of it is fried foods or slow roasted, I imagine it takes a really long time to cook Southern. I feel like it's easier to cook a Chinese dish or make tacos instead of cooking Southern recipes. Ribs, fried chicken, pork shoulder, pot roast... All this takes time and massive clean up.
I need to find a place that does country cooking well, you don't see many restaurants doing it out here. The only place I know of where you can get country fried steak is Denny's.
Does Boston Market count as country cooking? I like that place a lot.

toss a chunk of meat and some veggies into a crockpot or a pan and let the oven do the rest for 6 hours. dip some chicken in buttermilk, flour and toss it in a deep fryer and wait for the ding. open a #10 can and dump it into a steam table insert

On the way home, i had to shit VERY BAD. I thought i was going to shit my pants with liquid fire, it got VERY close during the walk. Luckily i got an ultra-tight butthole to keep it in
OMG you might have eaten a lobster that was dead before it was caught and not even realized it. If your lobster looks Grey or discolored even after cooking, it's a sign of decay.

Surprisingly I've had bad sushi from Morimoto, who is the Michelin star chef on Iron Chef who is supposedly the most difficult to beat.
It wasn't the fish that was bad, the fish was fine. But it wasn't the best, freshest fish I've ever had either. It was just... standard. But the rice was mixed in with a shitload of sesame seeds. It was hard and almost tasted like the rice was refrigerated (which is a big faux pais in sushi because it causes the rice to become very firm and tough).
Honestly the rice in those rolls tasted like I bought that fake refrigerated sushi with the imitation crab meat from Costco. And 75% of sushi is supposed to be all about rice, proper acidity and all that. It was a disappointing experience.
That guy has opened a lot of bad restaurants now that I think about it.
He also owns "Skewers" at LAX airport, granted airport food is notoriously known for being overpriced and bad, but this place even has 2 stars on Yelp which should tell you something: https://www.yelp.com/biz/skewers-by-morimoto-los-angeles
My friend tried this place, and he called it "Skewers of shit." Not only that but it was like $16 for 3 small skewers and rice that wouldn't even fill you up.
That guy needs to be watching restaurants that he opens under his name more closely, because AFAIK his establishments are a joke.

I have to be in the right mood to fry something, the prep takes a long time, and there's always massive clean-up afterward.
What are some secrets to making really soft and tender fried chicken though?
There's this place called Roscoe's, that's my favorite fried chicken and waffles spot. Their waffles are soft as pancakes, and their fried chicken is so tender and moist and falls off the bone. I don't know how they do it.

Someone through a bar glass at me one time while I was bartending. That was a pretty intense experience.
I've for sure had some less than spectacular service over the years, but usually doesn't bother me. Slow service will kill me though. Also, fill up my fucking water, or at least ask.
Working in the service industry though is a mostly thankless job. Sure, you have your regulars or locals who are thankful, but for most people your a means to an end, just an inconvenience between them and their food/drink.
Also, bartending, you here some really uninformed/unintelligent people spew fucking nonsense. I have to try my hardest not to let them know most of the time.

That whole glass not being filled enough thing can be cured by every place having 32oz tumblers for water, LOL! I was told at one place I worked "it makes you pay more attention to the guest" LOL!

This is one thing Asian restaurants do better, when you sit down they also give you a pitcher of water so you can refill your own glasses.

Luckily i got an ultra-tight butthole to keep it in
OMG you might have eaten a lobster that was dead before it was caught and not even realized it. If your lobster looks Grey or discolored even after cooking, it's a sign of decay.
The gravy was grey not the lobster.
The lobster was burnt thou.
I wouldnt be surprized if they found a dead lobster and served it on a plate for me

Not exactly THIS bad but my worst restaurant experience involved a very rude waiter and very slow service.
Lol...I've been to a lot of Asian restaurants where the waiter is rude. Usually if you're younger they'll speak down to you. If my mom or somebody older goes into a restaurant they get totally different service from me or my friends.
Some people will huff and puff at me suggesting this because they insist there so such thing, but this is one of the areas white privilege often is at work. I'm in restaurants every now and then and I always watch closely at how my table is serviced vs tables around me. I notice that white tables (of non hippies ) generally get better service than mixed tables or tables where nobody is white, and particularly when they are young Arabs. There are degrees of good service and bad service but this also depends on what kind of group you are, both ethnically, agewise and how you dress and conduct.
I usually tip and I tend to dial it up and down based on tghe restaurant experience of myself and tables around me. I fucking hate selective treatment, especially on race. My tips vary from very generous (tips are rare and small in Holland) to overpaying and demanding exact change in the worst case scenario.

What's the tipping custom in Holland? Is it pretty much optional, or is there a standard of 5% or 10% or whatever?
I haven't noticed selective service, but there is a stereotype among waiters that certain races (especially black people, Indians, etc.) tip less or don't tip at all.
Which isn't necessarily true, I've gotten 30% to 50% tips from some of these people, people you'd never expect any kind of money from. I've even gotten those kind of extravagant tips from gangbanger hoodrat types, and I always assumed those kind of people were cheap tippers.
I always try to guess beforehand how much somebody tips to see if there's a pattern, but people surprise me all the time.

In The Netherlands tipping is entirely optional. Waiters get wages that they can live off and generally good benefits so tips are not a necessity like in America.
We'd consider letting a waiter live off tips something Scrooge McDuck would do. Its a real job so it deserves a real wage and employee rights, even in fastfood.

I was kind of across town yesterday and wasn't that familiar with the area. There was a nice brick building with a nice patio and I was starving, so I duck into grab a bite.
Place was empty. Waitress tells me it's a mongolian grill, with the bowls of shit they fill up and you pay by the bowl, or by weight or whatever, but that tomorrow they are closing down, so they are out of some things. Place wasn't terribly clean either. Waitress had neck tattoos and shit. So many red flags. I just drank a beer on the patio and went down the road a bit. Lots of open prostitution, crack heads and shit like that in the area, fun to watch for a beer though.
Some mongoloian grills are OK, but even the good ones suck because they use shitty cuts of meat. I can't imagine the closing out sale is going to be the freshest cuts of anything.

The practice of tipping in America originated during the Great Depression. Unemployment was close to 30%, and restaurants couldn't afford to pay their employees. That's when the tipping system started.
