*Answered* - Spore to Agar - Inoculation Loop vs Sterile Cotton Swab

I have been getting into agar work recently. I use small jelly jars with RTV self healing injection ports when using a spore syringe to agar with much success, but I want to transfer spores from prints I made to agar to get some more plates going. I am trying to decide between purchasing inoculation loops or disposable sterile 6in. cotton swabs. I am leaning towards the swabs because they are cheap and seem convenient. What do you guys prefer? Is there any drawback to using the swabs instead of inoculation loops? Thanks for your input!
Update: Answered Going with this method (https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22556356).

Maybe give making your own swabs a shot if you want to save some cash. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22556356
I have not tried it myself but I don't see why it would not work.
EDIT: You could also just scrape some off with your scalpel.

It'll be cheaper to use inoculation loops over time just due to the reusable nature. I made my own loop and like it. Some one on here recommended using a twist tie with the plastic covering removed. It works well and you can customize the loop size. I haven't had much luck with swabs but so haven't really used them for prints. So just my input.

What did you make your loop out of? I read nichrome wire is usually used.

The twist tie from bread bags and shit. Then I put it in my exacto knife handle and screw it tight. I used a really long twist tie that came with a cord for my tv. It was coated in plastic so I used wire strippers. Paper ones can just be burned off.

You can get nicrome wire in a variety of guages from most e cig vapor shops. A 25 to 50 foot spool will be give or take $10.

You can go to any arts and crafts store and look for clay tools.
But yeah swabs are good too!
