my first go at brf cakes burma strain
    #23642860 - 09/13/16 08:10 PM (7 years, 4 months ago)

just started my first run started today. I went with brf cakes to start with. I'm using a tub in tub tek to start off with. I have done years of research but didn't want to attempt anything until I had the perfect space. I used roadheads tek with the organic Brown rice flower with verm. my first flush I decided to go with the burma strain. one question I do have for anyone that can give advice. when I was inoculating my jars there was quite a bit of condensation on the inside of my jars is this normal I squeezed my substrate before filling my jars to make sure there wasn't to much moisture. I will follow up with picture as I go. and a big thanks to all of the knowledge passed around on this site to make this experience a lot less stressful and easier to understand

well as I'm going I keep learning more and understanding what I'm doing wrong my incubation chamber was a little off on temp the bottom of the tub was at 83f but the air temp was 80f now my mycilium is spreading a lot faster. just germ. so GTs a couple hours ago. going to see what comes of them. one big question is why dose everyone say to wait a week after the bottom of the jar is fully colonized to begin the dunk-in-roll process?

Just because it's fully colonised on the outside, doesn't mean it's fully colonised on the inside

It's so the mycelium can consolidate on the substrate. If you were to birth it as soon as it looks colonized. You'd have to wait for the mycelium to establish itself so leave it in the jar. Those are words from RR. Good luck

And people argue with me that this is such an amazing place for novice growers.:facepalm3:  It has so much bad info that is too hard for the inexperienced to weed through.  Its not your fault.  This site needs to clean house bad.

Im sorry you wasted supposed years of your time reading terrible information. I do have my reservations if you have spent years reading TBH though.

Go and spend 40 dollars getting RogerRabits videos "Lets Grow Mushrooms" and spend one day watching them to undo all you have done.  If you have questions after that I am sure anyone on this site will be happy to help.  At this point you probably have too much bad info.

I hate piracy and not giving dues to those who deserve it but if you really dont have 40 to spend on the INVALUABLE information on those videos you can find em on youtube if you look hard enough.

You don't need a tub in tub to colonize your jars unless
it's pretty cold where you are storing them while they do
their thing. Just sit them anywhere that's not in
direct sunlight and with temps in the 70˚F range.

About condensation, like Cronicr mentioned "yes it is normal".

Who the heck is "Roadhead", did you mean Roadkill?

Fruit them in a shotgun fruiting chamber (SGFC) or
spawn those cakes to some bulk substrate.

Good Luck

So, point me to this bad info that is allegedly misdirecting new growers.  I will wipe it off the face of the earth, if it does in fact exist, and isn't there for a reason.

yes sorry my auto correct is garbage but I did indeed mean "roadkill". amazing videos btw I have already made up a SGFT. did that before anything. just trying to start off simple before I start rye berrys. anyone no of any good reading material for mycilium growth. the videos on YouTube are good and all I just want a better understanding of why things happen when they should and such. easier for me to understand if I read it. all in all this has become my favorite hobby. something that tickles my brain in every way. once again thanks to all the members with good advice that is making this experience as amazing as it has been.!!PEACE, LOVE, AND HAPPIENESS TO ALL!
