Hericium?, but which one?
    #23641945 - 09/13/16 03:26 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

I found this one while walking in the woods in east tennessee. Looks like a Hericium Americanum or even Hericium coralloides. I'm leaning more towards Americanum.

What do you guys think? Besides the fact that its an amazing looking mushroom. Any feed back would be great, thanks.

I'd call it H. corraloides,
It has has short spines, and a more branched appearance.

Here's a pic of H. americanum from last year

Thank you for your reply, Ive had this pic for a couple yrs and am just at awe with this mushroom. Im wishing I could have got a spore print or a culture from it somehow. I havent seen another one since I took that shot.

lol, I think foragedfungus right though, the H. corraloides has shorter spines that dont really hang but go array it seems like and the pic I took defiantly doesnt have such long spines, but this is why I started the thread. Theres no learning if you dont ask questions and accept the opinions you get.
