New member - advice sort (as is often the case

Hi,
***
I posted the below in the getting started thread but it seems a little quiet there! Thought perhaps this location is more appropriate.
****
Just registered. First Post!
I recently moved to Canberra Australia. I was excited to try find some mushies. Did my research and went out with an experienced friend over the winter months with no luck. We were a bit late but he said it was a warm season and not one he had high hopes for.
So I gave up.
Then, my weed/mdma dealer reported having a bunch of mushroom caps last week. I know the guy he got them from and he is a tripper (anecdotal evidence that I wasn't surprised this guy was a source).
Now, the guy I got these from reported that he and his friends (including his GF) had had them an tripped balls. Reported he had sold quite a few of these. FYI one cap was going for $10.
My qn -
I am a cautious drug taker. I test everything I take. I stick mainly to MDMA and use a 5 stage kit every single time.
Is there any way to test these are safe before committing?
I do place some weight in the fact my dealer said he had tried them. I've been getting stuff of him for ages and on multiple occasions have taken gear (sometimes pretty expensive group NYE hauls) back to him that didn't look cool on my tests. ie he has a track record of being a good guy and trying to get good stuff. There is zero reason based on his dealings with me to think he lied about trying them himself. i've even bought him tester kits to use himself so he doesn't buy dodgy stuff. This doesn't count for much to some but hey thats the kind of dealer you want I suppose.
Now he's been selling these for a couple weeks, so I suspect if they were laced with death caps there would already be a story in the local paper?
I've got these caps in a dark jar with some silica pouches, inside another jar with silica pouches in it at the back of my freezer. Even got a humidity paper in the jar which says 0% moisture as we speak.
Long story short - I haven't tried these yet but I am tempted to drop a 1/4 of a cap (or less) as a 'test' - ie make sure I don't get sick?
A member in the other thread suggested the price was steep and that it could just be plain mushrooms with research chems in it.
My thinking on these - I think the price says little. The guy is trying to make cash and I think plenty of people would spend $10 on these. A coffee is $5 these days! - I tested a small amount on a white plate with mandelin, mecke, marquis, simons and robatest reagents and got zero reaction. I think if they were something laced, some colour change would be observed (the reagent liquid would change colour - I understand the plant matter wont react.
Advice? much appreciated!
Bingo. Bongo. Cheers!

10 dollars a cap is such a varied price. Caps can range from .1 grams to 20 grams.
In the states a common low weight price for mushrooms is 10 per gram, or if you are in a more expensive area 20.
If your mushrooms do not have white gills, don't fear death caps. Most dealers want their customers coming back.
Weigh the mushroom. If it's less than .5 grams you'll need multiple caps, or you will need to grind them into dust and soak them in a couple ounces of lemon juice and down it like that ( enhances the potency )
Now here's what your dealer didn't tell you I'm sure. Mushrooms will, 100% of the time, make you gay. It's common knowledge. Your dealer may think you're cute, and you may not realize it yet, but you'll be begging for cock as soon as you eat that sucker. They are LBGT inhibitors and can have you browsing gay porn before the trip is even over.
It's ok, we were all scared at first, but now all the guys meet up to suck eachother raw, and the girls go horseback riding to warm themselves up for the mushroom scissoring weekend events.
Don't be scared. Just bring lube when you eat them and all will be fine.
Can't wait to hear back from you

Thanks guy.
I live in Canberra, Australia and I know that subbies grow wildly in this area. 99% that's what they are. Those are what everyone picks. Psilocybe Subaeruginosa. It's just around the city there weren't many this winter. At least that I tried to find!
The reason I suppose I'm being ultra cautious is that death cap mushrooms grow around here. Everyone now and then there is a story about Asian's picking them thinking they are straw mushrooms - which are eaten a lot in Asia and it's a sad coincidence when they come here and think they are what they are familiar with. Any way that's probably what is feeding my paranoia about just assuming these are fine. As you say though my dealer and his friends would be dead if the dose they had were those!
These are already ground up and in caps. They are a browny/slightly slightly green tinge powder.
How about storage? I've got these in a jar, inside a larger jar with silica desiccant packs in each in my freezer. I presume these would keep for a few years like this?
Cheers

Once you test these mushrooms, feel free to cum to a gathering and spray to our faces.

So far so good.
I tried 2 caps but each a few hours apart (at about 0.5g a cap). Based on what I've read it was probably generous to say it was lv 2. Lots of fun though and easy for a first time. I have about 15g left of these so I plan on working my way up.
They are Psilocybe subaeruginosa
