After the 10 days of darkness

Hello everyone I am new here and have been reading for several weeks now but can't seem to find an answer for my question so here it goes. I am growing bulk from 5 grain rye bags, and after the 10 days in the darkness completely covered I opened up my lid to find nothing has changed really. Only a slight white haze in some areas. Now it's been 2 weeks of 12 dark and 12 light at 77 degrees but nothing is happening. So my question is this do I go back to sealing up my Rubbermaid container and go another 5 days or so of complete darkness and try to get my substrate to turn white. I have no mold I have that earthy smell but no growth of the TEXAS spores. This is my 1st grow and everything went perfect till now. Please help me I have another 6 bags ready but am afraid to start the process again

Complete darkness is some 20+ year old advice for growing cubensis. Light is fine and beneficial at all stages. And does not cause premature or early pinning not does it cause side pins.
Pre made bags? Or did you make your own.
Spores to spawn bags isnt the best route.

Pre made from A reputable place. I'm just worried I did something wrong. Bags were completely white mixed with coconut and vermiculite and water and now I've got nothing just an earthy smell

Bags should be inoculated within 24 hours of sterilization. Shipping defeats that. Let alone how old they were before shipping. No one I know has had good success with pre made bags.
If you ain't doing it yourself, what do you expect but like 80% failure

well.. yah. buying premade bags... and keeping in the dark. I used to be tempted to buy premade substrate to 'be sure' it was made correctly. whats ironic is that the only way to be sure is do it yourself but i bought bags with that mindset of 'being sure'. ultra noob thinking.
also put them out on a shelf or something. the in the dark colonizing is totally wrong info. and all sealed up in a tub will only harbor contams.

Ok thank you very much everyone. It's been 2 weeks after the 10 days of darkness and nothing has happened. I have a few more bags ready to go RYE BAGS I am worried here. So my next step would be in a tub with coconut and vermiculite for 10 days at 78 degrees and then it's supposed to be white but 2 times now that has not happened looks exactly the same as day 1 what am I doing wrong how would you grow your GT's I have 6 spawn bags please help I've failed so far and want to have success

Well, first, stop ordering kits. They suck. They don't wonk well and we don't recommend them for good reason.
Two, get your bags out of the dark and out of the Rubbermaid container and on a shelf, make sure you pull the gussets out on the bag so the bag "inflates" a bit, so it can get gas exchange.
Three, leave them alone. If they work, they work, if not, you wasted money. In the meantime, read up on how to do all this stuff yourself. Also look up agar work. This alone will increase your success 100 fold.
-------------------- Don't like researching posts? Read this! . Also, if you're new and your posts contain the words: Humidifer, incubator, air-stone, or heater, then you need to read and UTFSE before asking people to review your setup. OR... You should be cultivating reptiles and fish, not mushrooms.

a buddy who does kits told me sometimes you get a dud. try calling them and explain you followed the instructions but nothing is happening. they should send a replacement kit for free.

most people who supply 'kits' are not to worried about you calling the BBB on them(if your in 'Merica) so why would they replace it?
and a 'dud' kit makes no sense.
growing mushrooms is a completely different animal than growing marijuana, or making your own beer/booze or growing roses.(ive done all)
and since there are NO FEDERAL or otherwise 'scientific' control studies so its up to the awesome TC's(trusted cultivators) at shroomery to try and spread knowledge and do it the proper way.
not trying to bash or anything but your 'buddy' saying a kit is a dud is mind fucking my brains out because of the retardation. ALL kits are duds. they sell you fishtank heaters to make 'heat bombs' and lamps that are not even close to the color temp mushies crave.
read, read, read, read, apply, fail(?) read, re-apply. blahblahblahblah

I have completed 4 grows in the last year. The only 4 I have ever done in my life. I came into this as a complete noob having nothing but my natural common sense.
Grow number one I ordered prefilled ready to inoculate jars from an online store and a GT syringe. I got them in November and they stayed on my back porch until april promptly being frozen solid all winter. Out of the 12 jars I managed to (somehow) grow 5 grams of shitty mushrooms.
My second grow was a 40 qt mono started after reading through this forum site for month or so. 3 ounces out of two flushes.
Third was a 27 qt mini mono and i netted another 3 ounces.
Fourth is another mini that is full of first spawn pins as I type this.
My point here is when I used prefilled I had 1/12 jars that succeeded. I Know I almost intentionally fucked them up and couldn't have treated them worse. i even had a corner of my mono break off when dunking between flushes and tossed it into the trash. The little bastard grew 4 mushrooms in the trash can.
Keep reading and keep trying. You WILL succeed eventually.
