i love those sounds.
Nothing better than heavy wind and rain/snow storm when your all snuggly inside and can just sit and listen. Helps me sleep. Even thunder i enjoy. ^_^

Shananagins said: My father has a severe case of this. He can't stand tapping fingers, clicking pens, snapping fingers, clapping, feet rubbing on carpet, chewing, whistling, and many other noises. I always thought it was due to his years of methamphetamine abuse, until I developed similar, less severe symptoms around age 17. I can't say whether I developed it genetically or just from influence being raised by him.
It can be very stressful, and most people will assume that you're just being petty or dramatic when you ask them to stop or remove yourself. Some will even continue to do it on purpose, thinking it's a joking matter. These people don't understand how much danger they are potentially putting themselves in...
apparently it is actually hereditary...
and you're right... the feeling I get when I hear these sounds is not a joke... I literally feel like I could do something extreme at times if I don't remove myself from the situation... I mean I can joke about it while it's not happening, but holy shit... during, people have actually noticed my eyelid start twitching and teeth clench... one of my friends even actually saw my pupils constrict.
and ya... the people who start doing it on purpose really are taunting a fucking rattle snake... it can get that bad for me.

ain't nothing like the sound of rain falling hard on a metal roof
fucking
incredible
Yeah, rain falling on dried leaves is among my favorite sounds. That, and shattering glass are really quite peaceful.
I can handle that, (rain and shit) in fact it helps drown out all the other sounds that can trigger it really... I like consistent white noise... a single drip one at a time could definitely set it off though...
and ya, utensils scraping on plates/teeth is like nails on a chalkboard lol

Misophonia is one ugly mofo!
I discovered i had it about a year ago, even found a forum dedicated to it, Misophonia.org I joined and they quickly emailed me to be a Admin that was pretty funny.
For me, the worst is kid voices, repetitive kid talk (maddening), mentally handicap people who repeat themselves with nonsense, and squeeky sounds like those produce plastic bags for fruit/veggies at the gorcery store and rubbing rubber ballons with your hand. Also, rubbing styrofoam together (yuck). Scraping sounds arent too bad luckily (aka chalkboards).
Also, any sirens, people arguing/yelling/stressed out voices and people eating/chewing/burping/gleeking/drinking/gulping/breathing hard/wheezing/coughing are all gross to hear. Farting is perfectly OK thou
I use my ear plugs (the safety kind) and often cover my ear with my pointer in a sly way like im leaning on my hand listening, to avoid most these sounds.
Also, wearing safety headsets is the best, and i use them anytime i use something loud and annoying like a vacuum cleaner, chainsaw or miter saw.
I got real bad misophonia while on 2 hits of acid, and my fountain pond (which is usually awesome to hear) got really maddening annoying and the sound of water repeatingly falling on itself was tettering on causing insanity and tranquility at the same time.
Its a shitty mental condition to have, but on the bright side, its better than Down Syndrome
Strangely enough, im also hypersensentive to light, especially at night. Not sure what that condition is called, havent looked it up yet

I also find that sound goes thru me, rubbing a plastic shoe on a fucking chair so it squeaks, repeatedly Like when chalk squeaks on the blackboard eughhhh feel it in my teeth hahahahaha.
One of the worse i knew a man once, poor chap was disabled so totally not his fault, but oh my he would make this sloppy wet sound with his mouth and lips none stop, i couldnt bear it open close mouth lick open close lick eughhhhhhh
And other, when certain fabrics make a strange squeak type noise, like a high pitch something fk i dunno how to describe it but again, makes me cringe hahaha
I live alone and its probably for the best hahahaha

dude... yes... you get it.
with the light too... if I don't have earplugs and a blindfold, I probably wont sleep... unless benzos are involved.
even the light from my alarm clock can keep me awake
then there's the exploding head syndrome and sleep paralysis that top it all off when I try to sleep...
I once threw a sledge hammer at the radio at work and busted it into pieces because of 'gang nam style'... people weren't sure whether to laugh or back away slowly and say nothing at all...
I always laugh at farts.

imagine a stick of TNT going off right beside your ear right when you're about to finally drift off... only it's inside your head...
I get the white flash too.. doesn't hurt, but I've damn near bit my tongue off from the shock...

I imagine most people in that position would predominately be concerned about the potential liability, of someone reacting so strongly to something so insignificant.
