Is Side Pinning Common with Pans?

I see that stonesun sometimes runs many flushes out of a Pan substrate and his pics make it seem more worthwhile than with say, cubes. I haven't been using a liner with cubes but I haven't been running a lot of flushes either.
I haven't been able to find any such pics but pretty much everyone I see is using a liner or tray or opaque tubs.
I don't want to have a lot of fruits potentially rotting through multiple flushes if I am ever so fortunate to achieve stonesun's incredible success!

my understanding is that side-pinning occurs mostly as a response to insufficient moisture conditions on the surface of the substrate. the result being that the mycelium tries to push the fruits out through the surface area where there is sufficient moisture. if your conditions are good it shouldn't be problematic. and most of the Pan grows i've seen haven't used a liner in their trays.

Thanks. You can extrapolate that from "they fruit where the microclimate is best" but I like your way of explaining it.
I'm about half way through the "Official Copelandia/Panaeolus Thread."
One experienced grower noted that their Pans side pin much less and suggested it may specifically be because they like it a little drier and with more FAE at this stage than say, cubes, so the side microclimate between container and substrate is not as inviting for Pan fruiting.
Maybe Pan PF cakes directly fruited and rolled would pin on the vertical side of the cake but I can't find any pics of this type of grow.

yeah, it seems like once their into fruiting they need FAE more than high humidity. just gotta make sure they don't get dried out. i guess it's sort of like what happens in the field where it rains and the high humidity signals the mycelium to fruit but by the time the fruits are getting bigger the humidity might be average or only slightly elevated.

A good liner and really good surface conditions are the best way to avoid side pins
But they aren't thaf bad either, just harvest them!
