Auroville, experimental money free township in India * 1
    #23638622 - 09/12/16 02:23 PM (7 years, 4 months ago)

Just found out about this magical place: Auroville Wiki

Quote:

Auroville (City of Dawn) is an experimental township in Viluppuram district mostly in the state of Tamil Nadu, India with some parts in the Union Territory of Puducherry in South India.[1] It was founded in 1968 by Mirra Alfassa (known as "the Mother") and designed by architect Roger Anger.[2][3][4] As stated in Alfassa's first public message in 1965, she states that, Auroville is meant to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony, above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realize human unity.

Here is their charter:

Quote:

1 Auroville belongs to nobody in particular. Auroville belongs to humanity as a whole. But to live in Auroville, one must be the willing servitor of the Divine Consciousness.
2 Auroville will be the place of an unending education, of constant progress, and a youth that never ages.
3 Auroville wants to be the bridge between the past and the future. Taking advantage of all discoveries from without and from within, Auroville will boldly spring towards future realisations.
4 Auroville will be a site of material and spiritual researches for a living embodiment of an actual Human Unity.

I think I just found my new #1 re location choice... :strokebeard:

Really? Apparently it only has a population of less then 3,000 people. Aren't india and many asian countries in general known for their pedos and sex trafficking?

In May 2008, the BBC produced a 10-minute Newsnight film about Auroville, which was aired on BBC Two.[30] A short version was aired on Radio 4's "From Our Own Correspondent". It also appeared on BBC On-line.[31] The reports contrasted the idealism of its founders with allegations by some people that the community tolerates pedophiles, especially in a school that Auroville has established for local village children

Once again isn't that not very uncommon in India and a lot of Asia in general? The #1 demographic in Auroville is by far Indians not surprisingly.

Also:

Quote:

Auroville filed an official complaint to the BBC that the report was biased, untrue and contravened BBC editorial ethical guidelines - after investigations, although a few inaccuracies were identified, Ofcom did not uphold the complaint.[32] In order to protect children in the Auroville area from child abuse, the city instituted an Auroville Child Protection Service which has been in action ever since. At the time the BBC report somewhat damaged Auroville's reputation.

There are like 10-20 different farms and it seems like a potentially cool community honestly  Pedos are pretty much everywhere at this point...

I like that there are people from at least 40-50 different countries living there, could be interesting. They do group meditations and stuff too :strokebeard:

Here is a cool looking farm that is spreading permaculture:

It's not very uncommon anywhere, don't be racist, but especially common in the place you speak of.  It's like going to the rainbow gathering or a libertarian convention.  Sounds good on paper but it's chock full of kidfuckers.  Better to be a regular person working a 9-5 job than associating with people obsessed breaking down boundaries like that.

That logic makes no sense  Plenty of "kid fuckers" work 9 to 5 jobs, hell you probably know some and don't even realize it...

Apparently when the founder died they requested the Indian government step in so technically it is owned but they have their own form of government.

Also they are slowly buying all the land as the funds become available I believe so eventually they should own all the land and be free to use it how they please.

As it always has been, since the dawn of mankind. We've just never had such a globally connected, elaborate and advanced media network that drops a report of a new instance into our lap (via phone/tablet/pc) within hours of another paedo being caught.

I dunno why people keep acting like it's some new, growing epidemic... The media is really twisting peoples minds.

It will only destroy what you are not.

I imagine BBC was trying to shut it down because they want to propagandise the masses with capitalism, general greed and unease, because then the rulers keep dominating, since they've rigged the game. They probably spent a lot of time rigging it.

If the people start getting together, government becomes irrelevant, without a government to pay off how do the elite stay so elite? No one cares about their shitty money and land if we're all on the same side. We'll just take it and share it among ourselves.

That is their worst fear - human progress and unity.

Government is a not only inevitable, but necessary.

Your libertarian anarchist fantasy has no place in the real world, where ordinary people lie cheat and steal, organize into gangs, syndicates and nations, take advantage of the ideals weakness of the naive, and dress themselves in sheep's clothing while they wait until the time is right.

You think all this happened by accident?
