Habitat:
Mixed grass, moss and litter from cedar branches in yard.  Vancouver Island.  Single mushroom found

Gills:
Tan turning to chocolate brown as they dry.  Adnexed and close

Stem:
Long in proportion to camp, thin, tan coloured

Cap:
~1cm, medium brown drying to sandy brown, conic

Spore print color:
Cinammon

Bruising:
None observed

Other information:
Pretty non-descript found regularly in lawn near tree line once fall sets in.

Initial thoughts were Mycena until I ran into the spore colour.  I suspect this is one of those LBMs that will require a microscope to venture any further (it arrives tomorrow but I have a learning curve in front of me on that acquisition).  I'm leaning to Agrocybe of some sort but cannot pin things down.  What am I missing, not interpreting properly?

Thanks for the time and help.  Pics below are all the same mushroom.

Edit:  Further search on Mushroom Expert now leads me to think Conocybe lactea aka C. albipes.  Again, expert wisdom gracefully accepted.

Thanks.  It took me a while to head that way.  Anything in particular I can reference to make this kind of ID simpler going forward?  I edited my original post to narrow it down to Conocybe lactea aka C. albipes.  Am I on the right track?

IDK about making things more simple - mycology is complex!  Lots and lots of reading and looking at other people's mushrooms.

I use a program (free download) called MatchMaker and it has truly been an invaluable resource.  You can read thousands of descriptions of fungi and it has a feature that helps you match features to descriptions.  Like, "I thought this was Mycena until I saw the spores" - select spore color in the matching feature and it will return everything that's description includes that spore color.  I really learned a lot with this program.

Use MushroomObserver.org !!  It's search feature let's you pull up all the observations of a species it's users have uploaded.

And last but not least - you will gain more intuitive skills as you go.  You gotta earn your stripes.  Read, observe, photograph, take notes, make guesses, make mistakes, etc etc etc

Awesome.  Linked Mushroom Observer so I can find it and am downloading MatchMaker as I type.  Interesting, it's written right here where I live.  I will have to make a point of getting in touch with the mycology community here sooner rather than later.

Oh good!  Check out the "Quiz" feature on MatchMaker!
