Idk. The better question is why coir? Azure's are a wood lover. You'd get the most bang for your buck with wood.

Another question if I have 3 stalled quart jars and ice determined the spores suck but aren't extremely contaminated so the jars are just bare no contams. It's been 3 days . Since inoc. Maybe 5 grains colonized per jar . Can I pressure cook these jars again . And re shoot them with new spores

Anu actual facts regarding this question . Will it work or not . Is pressure cooking temps enough to kill spores and or psilocybin mycelium. I want to use a different strain . And not create waste . Food for kind fungi

I'm sure it's probably possible, but far from sterile and something could/will probably go wrong.
I would say, keep them jars let em grow!
If you want to start another strain then start a new batch, get some more jars, get some more grain and then off you go!

Yes it will kill all in the jars and fuck up water content in jars. But does work. But buy more jars. Youll need them later anyway.

I use 45 minutes for every grain grow never had/have an issue . It's the hillbilly syringe I had . I realized in that 2.5 days that three lcs from it did nothing while two other strains I had . We're going . were only on the shelf for 2.5 days far from bacterially contaminated . I hope it works if so then cool . Because I meant to by hulled barley and bought pearl so it was a waste anyway. I do birdseed for 45 minutes and that's even after a 48 hour soak.
I sniffed the jar and it was fine before cooking. I even changed the lids and foil ... Any longer in the pc for this one I think it would have overcooked. I did think about doing 60 . we'll see if it works . The Madagascar syringe I have is partly germinated so im going to put 10 drops in each . And give them a good shake .
Also after every pc I put my Jars from the refrigerator then the freezer . Then inoculate right away. With grains though I'm used to using those giant turkey baster syringes with lc
Now with spores I feel like less is better . At least in an lc. So why not in grain .

45 minutes pc on grains? Really? That's literally the recommended minutes for liquid media with a few solids... Not an entire jar of grains. Damn you must have some bacterial jars if you're doing only 45 minutes. Endospores easily survive that. I've had to go up to 2 hours from 90 minutes because of endospores.

When i started out years ago everyone was going 90 mins at 15 psi. Now i go 2 hours because it gives me peace of mind and the energy cost for 30 mins is like 3 cents on a pc. Lc is a whole different animal then spore syringes. One being spores syringes are never clean 100% but with bacteria the spores and myc can out run bacteria. Thus making it not so bad on subs or growth out in grain to grain. On the out hand bacterial out runs everything in a lc. When the grains still grow the myc out its weakened. Even if its all white a fuffy the colonize time is longer and trich comes much quicker because of how much the myc have to fight bacteria

Doing 2 hours doesn't drastically change the appearance of the grain though? Like crispy cause with birdseed i would get that even from 90 sometimes . I'm thinking maybe keeping the flame high makes a difference though .

liloldme works exclusively with coir outside (or peat I mix them up).
Best advice is prep your grains like cubes. If you can, prep them with alder wood water, or put wood agar to your grains. It's that initial jump that saprotrophic species seem to have a problem with from what I've seen posted here. Like when people try to mix chips with grains and all it does is mess up moisture content, adds contams, and is just a mess. They need to "know" what their future food is going to be, which is why woodgar sectoring is pretty important IMO.
Alder wood water -> cooking chips boiled for an hour, drained, then use them for an outdoor planter or dry them and save for later. I've still got a few quarts. It really does go a long way.

More caramel in color, yes. But the bacteria is mostly gone, and the myc eats through it like it's nothing anyways.

Yes, it will enjoy the coir, but should really only be used as a filler in between the wood chips. It helps retain moisture and acts as a bridge or stepping stone for the mycelium to travel on while looking for more wood IMO. I think it's safe to say you can skip spawning grain to wood before spawning the colonized wood to an outdoor bed. I have successfully spawned WBS to wet wood chip planting beds with ps cyans it took really well.
This is what I did most recently check it out
