I have had an experience happen a handful of times in my life where I could feel my "spirit" drift from my body into another persons body, and see myself through their eyes, I am curious if there is a name for this.

Consciousness transference.
I often see through the eyes of an African man who tries to impress his onlooking friends as he inherits spirit whilst under the influence in a smokey, dark shack. I can see faint light peircing through the walls, faint expressions of oily faces, white teeth and the glowing ends of joints in the darkness.
I've also had an experience of being and seeing through the eyes of wheelchair bound boy with cerebral palsy at a football match, being laughed at by three boys infront of me.
The spirit world is non-local so I don't feel any 'drift' as such. It's more a case of a sudden tune-in.

Thank you for that Duncan, I will research that some more.
Do you have any good links you would like to share on the subject?

I actually haven't read about it yet.
I just happen to know the term for it.
My past and current reading has involved Paramahansa Yogananda, St Thomas Acquinas and various lesser known authors who write about the connection to the godhead. The latter two being less 'earthly' stuff, you might say!

Have you managed to identify who's body you are possessing?
I'm imterested to hear exactly what you have experienced.
I find it gives light to the notion that we are perhaps being affected or are open to spirits ourselves with our bodies as a potential vessel.
It's quite a prominent exprience for me. When I inherit the African guy, the part of me is always mentally 'tutting', because the guy acts like a court jester, having to always be in the limelight with physical antics.
Though its never been seeing though eyes as such, Ive also had a few experiences of taking up the emotional vibrations of depressed teenagers. Though it's otherwise foreign to me, I've gained understanding of Gothic themes, associated music and I've attained the ability the feel the spirits oppressing these people.

some people say that our souls can have many simultaneous incarnations at once on the planet - perhaps you're tapping into other soul extensions of your soul ? ultimately we're all the same soul, but it seems to be the case that there is a structure, a series of levels and apparent divisions sounds like neat experiences!

I think there might be archetypes that exist, in that there's only so many 'brands' of human mind. Some pertain to the self and thus, attract to the self whilst other repel.
I've lived in many places when I was younger and this presented itself apparently in that there always seems to be a person who fit the 'shoe' perfectly of someone I knew previously. Each person in the group, or 'gang' would simply be a version of another person who I'd previously known. It wasn't out of need to fill a vacancy for my own comfort, rather a clear, undeniable perception, confirmed too by others. There was always a 'Paul' - not by name, but by mind.
Also I don't follow it much, this concept and realisation has also led my to believe that the people mentioned in The Bible are actually applicable to these archetypes, which are, in effect, a set of the self (someone else wrote about this too on a website). The set form, like a group of cells is scattered, replicated geographically, so that no matter what, no matter where we are, we are always in proximity to the same potential story comtaining the same people, (in order to attain an end goal).
I think with this in mind, we can establish a clear connection with those akin to us, locally and remotely. I too was a fool, similar to the African guy.

This is going to be a very rushed post, I gotta get out the door soon, so it might be all over the place.
One was with a girl I hardly knew, I had laid down on her couch, and when she came in the room I was seeing myself laying there through her eyes, I blinked and was back in my normal body.
I was sleeping once and a friend came in and woke me up, I saw him come in the room and do so, standing over me and waking me. I went to a mirror and saw myself the exact way I had just seen myself through my friends eyes, drool spot in corner of mouth, same shirt, everything exactly the same.
I have had numerous visions throughout my life with people in them which I don't know, and people I do know, I have been Jesus while being crucified on the cross, I have been in the Roman legion, I have been a fisherman in the Mediterranean area numerous times, been an Italian baker, these memories are so vivid, and I think they might be related to consciousness transference. I had one experience where this guy was speaking to me in a dream, but nothing was dream like at all, nothing was distorted or strange like how the dream realm is, he kept telling me to remember, I woke up from that dream instantly and felt like I was talking to someone I knew all my life.
I try to avoid new age beliefs, like past life stuff, but I don't know what to make of these experiences, but there's something I feel whenever I have these experiences, like they're realer than real, and I know I have been there and done those things.
I don't go looking for stuff like this to happen to me, so that makes me feel like there might be some truth to them, you know like those guys that go to find ghosts are so revved up about doing so, that every little bump in the night has to be a ghost, they condition their minds so much for those paranormal experiences to happen, that they do happen, they're not genuine though.
I can recall my first out of body experience happening to me in 1st grade while laying under a Christmas tree, which I saw myself from above, looking down on my body, so these type of experiences have been happening for a long time.
This is related to I think, my ex was sitting on the couch and we were having an argument, her body seemed to become transparent for a brief moment, and within her body was sitting another person, the person sitting within her body I would meet several years later, and they were identical to the person I had seen within my ex.
I believe that each person has their own energy signature, which is unique to themselves, so when an old lady says her dead husband is there in spirit and she knows it, maybe there's some truth to that, maybe she is sensing his energy, maybe all that past life stuff is just recycled energy, maybe it's not uncommon to jump from one body to the next for a few seconds, like electricity jumping from one wire to another for a moment, yet still staying within the wire its main current is traveling through, does that make sense.
I don't know, I am rushed because I have to get out the door, so sorry for the jumbled mess of a post.

Intruiging!
It sounds like you've got good exprience of it.
I too have experienced the crucifixion as Jesus. The experience, completely free of suffering or I'll feeling, was complete saturation in holiness with the deep rooted assurance that 'You can die now (if you wish). I have you'.
I've also exprienced the pressing encouragement by spirits who tell me that it's ever important to remember in order to bring back the information over the spiritual / material border.
The most clear exprience I've witnessed is seeing though the eyes of an Egyptian King seated on top of a huge flight of stone stairs overlooking a vast landscape. I exubarated warmth and was surrounded by children with beaming smiles queuing to sit on the arm of the chair to receive word from me.
Almost as if I'd be granted a past, remote vision, I've watched Roman armies battle on a shore from the clouds. The message seemed to suggest 'Man has always been at war - this is what we have to endure to avoid'.
Have you had any experiences where you've encountered a council who highlight recognition of you?

That is funny that you mention Egyptian kings, because I have had recognition from Egyptian deities, strange thing about those experiences were each time they happened I would go out to run the next day, and would have a peregrine falcon fly in front of me, which resembled the falcon headed Egyptian deity Horus.
I don't think it was just coincidence because three occasions the falcon flew down from the sky, and flew in front of me low to ground before flying off, really strange occurrence.
I still get Egyptian themed dreams/visuals, and am often visited by numerous Egyptian deities when I am meditating while laying in bed before sleep, usually Horus, Sobek, Bastet, Thoth, and Anubis will come through the door, and I will be surrounded by geometric shapes (sacred geometry) when they enter, like they're creating it around me.
A couple times I am on a large chair at the top of three steps, and there are huge purple cloths hanging around me, and I am watching people talk, the color purple has been present in many of these experience. Again, those experiences are not dream like, but realer than real, and nothing in them is dream like with distorted shapes/sizes or anything like that.
What I would like to do though, is find out if it's safe and possible to be able to learn how to control the consciousness transference I mentioned, and if it would be possible to learn how to master a technique to do so, that maybe later in life I could transfer my consciousness into other living things to experience them better for a time being.
I think when we die we're just transferred to other forms of life, I have never viewed this as reincarnation but it might be, I don't know because I haven't studied reincarnation enough to talk about it. I just believe that energy is eternal, but maybe we can master a technique in the living world, which would allow us to experience what we experience with death (spiritual transference) but upon doing so, it could allow us to form a really strong connection with whatever it is we transfer our spiritual energy into for the time being.
I would think there might be risk involved, like maybe our spirit could get stuck in limbo, or within another living thing, which maybe this has happened before and we view this as some type of mental disorder in the person who has had consciousness transferred into them because they have numerous energies in them, with one energy being alien to them, and one being their own, so conflict would ensue I would think, I don't know but is interesting to think about.
