Finding the random cyan yesterday gave me some motivation to check on other spots that were well protected from the elements. Well, my gf found the cyan, we were in a huge park that is wooded and has campgrounds, found some Panellus serotinus. As I was taking pictures just off trail I heard her laugh and tell me to look. Sure enough, one lonely cyan, no where near any mulch either. Anyhow, there are still few out there folks, but not much. Saw a lot of aborted pins.

Nice day out on the coast. Awesome day hiking just disappearing like sand in the brush tripping balls. The translucent ones tasted like how your tongue does a moment after you catch a snowflake. Got hunted by a pack of coyotes on my way out. Birds are basically gone.. saw a female bald eagle soared right above me it was glorious, then got lost in the sun. I thought that was everloving gorgeous.
I haven't seen good kills in awhile. The big cats have increased at this place. I bet they're dragging it all away, but even in the most "away" areas, there's not a lot of kills.
Not a lot of activity in pine litter. Shrooms are all coming from the warm established mats now. If you guys see strands of mycelium up grass, go deeper or around it more, and find your microclimate mushrooms. I didn't find many stragglers. Two weeks ago I had a few "oh that's there neat" but not anymore.
The ones I did find were either retarded looking or off-color and thus unpicked. One small patch with rockier soil.. weirdest deep/light gray. There's a cross section of sedentary rock and you can see where it split so this one path could be carved. There's mushrooms on the top. It's cool to see the soil beneath. I can't even describe it, I guess like how aborted Atlantic ovoids do. They look like ovoids when dried, too. Strange. But these aborted fellas blended in with the rocks around them. I thought that was cool.
I'm still tripping and images are hard I'll upload more tomorrow.

PICS AT THE BOTTOM
I can't believe I'm posting in this thread...today is a monumental day for me as I have encountered my first psilocybe in the wild. Something I've dreamt of for roughly 18 years now. Back in the day I used to read the Shroomery dream of the mushroom mecca that is the PNW and drool over the exotic and potent specimens, to which mere homegrown cubes could not challenge. Well life events pushed me to relocate to the Willamette Valley a few months back. Being a cannabis connoisseur, I wasn't mad at all. I started feverishly hunting in mid-November, looking for love in all the wrong places, but enjoying the explorations of my new habitat nonetheless.
Finally got my woodchip radar fine-tuned. Figured the season was done, but was still finding non-actives hanging around, lookin all pretty. So decided to go for a hunt after eating a big ol' burger...something about a nice walk after a big meal. Well after 30 mins of chip-scanning, I discover the patch adjacent to a parking lot of a public building. It was a very high-walk-traffic area, but I guess they blended in pretty good and had some leaf cover. When I saw that beautiful blue, that heavenly blue which had been escaping me for so long, my heart jumped. And it was ON. They really are gorgeous, and some are pretty damn big.
I am psyched to try the smoothie tek for propagation (blend up mushrooms and water and add to soaked woodchips)
I used scissors and tried my damndest not to be a patch rapist.
But would it be wrong of me to dig up the patch + chips and move it somewhere else I can attend to it more freely? It's just so exposed and I'd hate to think it will eventually get destroyed by maintenance crews/cops/disrespectful pickers.
It's been many hours since the find and my heart is still beating fast. I'm so excited to try these (fresh!) and really feel the true nature vibe of my new stomping grounds!

Congratulations, man! Feel good, don't it?
You can expand living tissue onto cardboard in the meantime, which is pretty basic and easy.
See if you can get more and make a lot of prints, if not get some swabs.

I like your thinking. Destroy the patch before someone harvests any mushrooms. Maybe I'll do that to every patch I know of in town. I'd hate for anyone to pick some mushrooms.

Yes, that would be wrong. Don't be that guy. Seriously.

But what if you are new in town and want to make sure no one picks from "your" patch? Or what if the crew who has been adding fresh wood chips to the patch for the past ten years rakes more on top?

OK everyone, understood, I will not disturb the patch. The only reason I suggested this is due to it's very public nature.
Question -- it seems like the cyans I found are lighter in color, I was expecting more caramel-colored caps. Is there any reason for this, and does this tell us anything about their age/potency/habitat/etc?

If they are getting that tanish lighter color that means they are starting to dry
