Relatively new to hunting, does this cold/snow in Washington mean the season is over? Will pins still in the ground continue to grow or should they be picked now?

If it freezes hard (which it's supposed to) then yes it will kill everything. After that if it warms up and starts raining again when may get another flush but I doubt it this late in the year.

Yeah it has to warm up for like a week or two at least to see any new flushes, which as Maynard said is unlikely. A few years ago I found a huge flush in February after it warmed up and rained for two weeks.

I was pulling them until early-mid* January on NW Oregon coast last year. A hard frost and a few days of warm rain and they'll be fine. Just don't forget if you guys snap them out of the ground like Popsicles to get them into and dehydrator asap, or they'll turn icky fast. Found some bears tooth the other day. Only problem with actives this late is that areas I used to get QPs out of will give a half ounce or ounce for the same amount of effort and time. A little more effort kind of, actually.
Edit: Early-mid* not mid-late Jan.

Thanks for the tips! I'll probably go pull the remaining pins tomorrow before it gets too cold.
Proudly presenting the lovely wild patch I found this year, my first (& only) active find after a very long season of learning the ropes. Many spore prints were taken & redispersed in the area.

Found a nice little set, of a relatively small phenotype. I am hoping they survive the coming freeze. I covered them with 2-3 inches of leaves as a blanket.

Haha, that's quite an image. All four were senior citizens, some more senior than others, working in a city-run volunteer program. I know older people do sometimes hunt mushrooms too, of course. I've seen a few hunters in the "aging hippy" category myself. But these particular people... I really can't picture that. Far more likely to be one of the obvious other hunters I've seen at that park from time to time.

If the freeze isnt to ling or hard, sometimes some oatches will straggle along, especially if the are covered by leaves other debris. I'd keep checking if the freeze wasnt to bad.

Went out for my final 2016 cyan popsicle harvest and noticed this sign at a park. It was posted in a giant woodchip bed that looked ideal but had nary a mushroom of any kind. Anyone know what this is about? I did a lazy Google search and checked the Parks Dept. webpage but can't find any info.

Why not just call the number on the sign?
It clearly states if u would like any info to call that number. Seems interesting. Maybe I will call it lol. Just cause there wasn't any mushrooms in sight doesn't mean there wasn't a lot of spores put down ext.
I've noticed areas that looked very similar to yours pictured and thought maybe the burlap bags were full of mycelium. It looks like a fungal project. I didn't wanna poke around tho just left it alone

It doesn't say "Any work in this park must be authorized by the Seattle Department of parks and recreation"
