What if something has just gotten colonized enough to send up a first flush late in the season?

Idk, then that falls into the 10-20% category that haven't flushed yet

Right, but you said there were not going to be any more first flushes. Regardless, there will be lots more mushrooms!

Nice to hear people have been having a successful season. I have found a little bit, but not too much. Any tips for beginners? I know what to look for, but I guess I just need to spend more time out there searching. I think I tend to just look at the popular places (parks) and not sure where else to look without snooping in people's yards and stuff.
Thanks!

My phone is being a douche and you should probably post an ID request but from what I can tell it's some kind of gymnopilus sp. See if anyone else agrees. Active or not? Couldn't tell you. Don't see any green bruising.

The dune grasses seem to be winding down already. I saw a lot of rotten ones and only a few babies today with not a lot of quality I want to pick. My gf found a nice azure patch right in front of my grandparent's beach house where I spent a lot of time as a kid.
The other city patches that are in wood chips have put on a full second flush larger than the first. I think in the dune grasses there is only so much available lignin available per season that is actually touching the mycelial mat where in chip beds there is plenty of available food within reach at all times. You can see the mecelium in the dune grasses reaching up the stalks for more food. I'll go back in anther two weeks to see if another flush happens. Found a yard that was just chipped of it's shore pine and the yard is perfect for a carpet patch. I found one in the same neighborhood on pine chips just like this one years ago. I'm gonnna take all my spore water from this season and spray the entire yard and come back in two-three years.

Nice finds everybody! Phatty pins NC, right on. Your garden is still looking great lilolme. Nice coastals adden.
I've been too busy hunting to post, so here are the last two weeks of my finds.

That frog is obviously staged. But what's cool is the cyans he is on are WILD! They were found along the Skagit River.
And then, what I think I'm most excited about are these gyms. I found gyms in a few different towns but these ones stuck out.

Thanks for looking. Happy hunting folks. Don't take 'em all. I'll be back in two weeks for the scraps.

I think that might be the early stages of slime mold infection. I see that some times where the stipe gets all black then soft then yellow ooze starts showing up. Once betaknight found a prime example of it we shoulda takin pics.
Nice finds btw Skagit! Next time im up your way we'll have to hit up some spots.

I haven't been back there in years. I probably should huh? I've been sick with a sinus infection and haven't gotten out much. I will check before it freezes this year. It would be really cool to see those things fruiting off of a tree.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Here are a few more I had not uploaded until now.

All of these pics are from patches that are new to me this year. I was lucky enough to average one new patch a day over the last two weeks. It's been a blast. Freezer's full. I had a couple great trips, one of which was on gym's. Thank you all for an awesome season. Hopefully it goes into December this year.
