Keep looking new places. Good to see you found something a few pages back. Happy hunting.
Thanks for the words of encouragement man, planning on a trip to the coast in the next couple days. That should quench my thirst for finding shrooms somewhat. Hopefully lol.

I forgot to mention I had a very close encounter with a ranger.. he was about 50 feet away. so keep your eyes peeled.
this is my favorite picture I took.. just because I love that the caterpillar is taking shelter and sleeping under this Azure.
One thing i've learned over the years is that if you see the "Woolly Bear" then it's time to find Azures. and as it turns out the woolly bear is a famous tool for predicting winter weather.

Someone mentioned in the first few pages of this thread that it'll be a bumper crop. Geez that's for sure!

Those of you looking on spending money to hit the coast should keep an eye on how warm it has been and is continuing to be. There have been a lot of tshirt weather days, and mushrooms are looking and fruiting poorly as the season goes on. There's more of these days ahead and high 60s, and then some time to fruit heavy and healthy. You can see they're struggling vs 2 weeks ago. You can see there haven't been heavy or cold or shifting winds. Just more of the same slow warm wind. I'll be waiting a good week or two and working parks, and you guys know how much I love the sand. Comparative climate data suggests the coming conditions to be the same as the 7-10 days before they began fruiting. My guess is there's going to be a correction before they go back to normal.

I was blessed with finding a small patch of Ovoids today. My first time ever seeing them in person. They are way cool! just as cool as I though they would be to find. Beautiful trippy mushrooms.

All of them were too young to pick, but a few had been stepped on/knocked down so I took those for a few prints. Covered the rest of the pins and i'll be checking up on em

Don't know if its me, or if those pics are deceiving but something looks off. The stems don't white enough or the right texture. Hard to say for sure if i see bluing. With how wet those are i would expect to see more prodominate bluing at the slug munch spots. I hope its just the pics, but i also don't want anyone to eat something thats poisonous. Haven't seen a lot of ovoids, after seeing a fair amount of other psilocybe something don't look right. Did you get a spore print?

Well I'm no TI. They look close. Also from what I've seen ovoids don't bruise that much and sometimes it seems the bruising disappears after A bit of time. I feel like I see blueing on the margin. How did they smell?.
So these are how healthy mature cyans turn out. Look at PNW Fun Guys and other hunters who respect and allow them to fully mature. If you've found a bunch of mushrooms. Step back and relax. Do your best to watch them grow and mature. If we all do this we can have full giant mature patches. I know it's just a pipe dream.
I still picked the shit out of this patch; but I left quite a bit to mature, after a week these are what greeted me.

I picked about a dry pound of ovoids this spring and not a single one had any blue bruising... And they were harvested guerilla style into a backpack, so they took a beating... Kinda tripped me out... They look like ovoids to me but according to my wife I'm wrong a lot so..

The coastal areas are ripe with azures already although it is warmer than I would have expected. The fruits are small but still potent and in numbers good enough for me

Twas a good weekend for hunting. Remember folks, returning to the the same patch over and over again can bite you in the ass. I'm finding, big patches that are well hidden or just in plain sight in close proximity to other patches that have been worked too hard. Otherwise I'll just have to grab them all for myself bwhahahahah, you've been warned!

I don't have a lot of ovoid experience. All of the ones i found bruised, even semi dry ones. The caps do look like ovoids there is a veil remnants. The two things that looked off to me was the stem not being that ropey, bright white. And from what i see a lack of bruising. But apparently i am the odd man out, and limited ovoid experience as some others here.

Thanks for the replys! I have pretty limited experience with ovoids so I do want to be totally sure. There was definitely clear bruising on numerous mushrooms, even one that was fully blue. Here's a few pics where I tried to capture it a little better (sorry the lights not that good).

The stems are white and semi-ropy, gills pale-cream color to light brown dropping a purple brown spore print. persistent annulus. They look like classic Ovoids to me but when it comes to mushrooms its worth taking a closer look. You guys still see any doubtful factors?
