Today was a good day.

Sorry for the shitting iphone pics, I really need a camera. This spot has absolutely exploded since last year. Its amazing. Almost video worthy, there are so many small patches in addition to these ones, spread out across about 40 yards maybe. My stem butts did the trick, in every place I planted them I have mushrooms. In addition to that it looks like the spores are spreading through the hose. I'm about to comb the whole thing with stem butts this year to see if I can get them growing throughout the whole mulched area.....muahahaha

Nice! I've yet to find Cyans in Portland, I always have to the coast.

Nothing active. It looks like you need to do more research before yanking other species out of the ground.
In the top corner of this text box you can hit Images Only. You'll see what the mushrooms look like. Some that you have look nothing at all like any.
When you do find mushrooms, please make your own identification thread. If you're going to collect different mushrooms make sure to keep them seperated. Get close photos of the gills, stem, cap and relative size. That'll come up as a template when you click "identification request" when you make your thread.
There's nothing there at all unfortunately, you really should look at the habitat shots and what these things look like. This thread is for posting pictures of active finds.

Fert Nitty and I hit up a two day foray. Real awesome dude. He found and picked his first azures. He looked so happy you should've seen it. His hands and fingers move like lightning it's almost not believable. We took a gamble on two new spots and it paid off big time. Stayed at an off season resort and went in the dunes at night. A lot were in this shape but some just perfectly ripe. A head lamp and a flash light. You can see where people stopped picking but if they went 2 more feet there would be another blanket. I ate ten of the fresh ones and got all fucked up.
These quarter to half dollar ones just flushed in blankets but my flash and head lamp were only so bright. He would work a patch while I found and worked a new one and he'd go over where I was to the next and rinse and repeat. There's still hundreds if not thousands. We didn't have to walk far at all haha. We didn't put a dent in it since it was shooting fish in a barrel and we picked all day.

From the place we gambled on going to:

I love this picture.

There were patches like these that would go ten feet in and five deep or vice versa. The soil composition felt different under my feet and I figured if they did they wouldn't be a big old patch but it was.

I had gone back to this satellite patch to cover up pins with a big log and saw that I missed these.

And when they were in the smaller patches at the edge of fern growth they grew like this in it. They didn't win in size but they won in number. Fert Nitty worked one fern area at the base of a tree and found them looking like this. I know he's got better pictures of the stuff in the ferns.

When a dune or hill was tall enough for water to collect and roll of it, they grew like this.

These guys were in water runoff with significant woody soil content and it was very loose. You could see mushrooms fruiting off 4 or 5 needles it was fantastic.

Just weird to see these nickel size balls of mycelium sending out mushrooms it's so neat. They don't patch out of course but there seemed to be a sizeable amount so I made sure to throw butts in it from 300 miles away.

They grew flimsy here, where normally they grow quite large. And it is interesting it is getting and staying warmer and sunnier in some spots and some areas are still repairing from the storms. I bet in 2 or 3 weeks we will be finding them the size of our faces.

Fert Nitty is a solid dude. We each ended up finding places very closer to where we live. We saw where two rainbows ended as we began to start driving at the ocean. I saw a female eagle while we were on the way to another park. I think everyone should hit parks for awhile and let it get cold again. Personally I'm adding +2 and +3 days of fruiting on some areas just because of mowing and threshing, picking, and being hot. There hasn't been a morning this past week where I felt chilly in the morning or night on either coast. I'll be in the parks for awhile hope you all have good shroomin.

Haha yeah no kidding eh? I love my solo trips but it's nice having a buddy. It is a different experience. I was going to ask him last year for help on urban picking and I'd help him coastal but I didn't want to seem like a beggar or some kind of hookup attempt. I cannot wait for 34 degree rain and wind picking these up by the fist full and wondering if it's fair to take so many, haha. I've seen 9 and met 4 other pickers the past few days on the coast and everyone is in tshirts at dawn that's not a good sign. I had forgotten about everyone going out picking for Halloween so I'm glad we went excluded areas. It also felt better night picking having a park pass and a room key in my pocket if I got shook down. I ate like ten large ones out of this area and got toasted to 2 hours delerium to pure exhaustion. I felt great in the morning and was glad I didn't have to drive for a few hours.. a tired driver is just as bad as a drunk or distracted driver.

Ive been checking the forums every day! Love the finds people, they help fuel my passion for hunting!
I've been backed up with a bunch of photos, and life keeps moving too fast....
My neighborhood spot is looking nice!

This meaty bundle is growing out of a large chunk of colonized mulch... the whole thig is out of the ground. I could just pick it up with fruiting bodies and all if I wanted to.

Night photos during a ninja stealth visit

This is the same cluster, younger to older back to back.

Then I found a good amount of pins at another spot that I found last season.

I didnt pick any that day, lets see if there are any left when I come back......

These ones are by the bathrooms in a corner......probably why nobody has picked any...
While I didnt feel comfortable picking to eat them, I did pick a couple of the biggest ones and I stuck them in a completely different location a few blocks away. Maybe some magic might happen there...
And last but not least,
Amanita of some sort. I'm doubtful that they are muscaria, but if so they gotta be a sub-species, or regional variety.

I just love what one can find while hunting!
