Re: OFFICIAL 2016/17 FALL PNW ACTIVES THREAD [Re: N05482]
    #23759844 - 10/22/16 02:09 AM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Been hunting the last few days in the Puget sound area, I don't think I was able to find any actives but some confirmation on a few of these would be nice. Got any tips on searching? Currently been checking near some freshwater streams near the green river, and I haven't found anything. Of the two species I brought back neither bruise blue :frown:.

Any tips appreciated thanks!

Trippy shit. Looks like you dipped it in some heat shrink. It's crazy how it looks like it doesn't even effect the rest of the mushroom. Can you see the slime mold were they were growing?

I'll admit it, I might do some shovel action on one of my seattle patches. I seem to be the only one who knows about it thus far. It is in an undesirable spot, not to mention an hour from my house. There are several little patches in the immediate area, I might pick one to destroy. I just don't have the room for a cardboard tek at home. You can hate, but I think it's mitigated damage. Considering how I'll only hit one of the little patches, I am the only one who knows about it, and I will be spreading the love 70 miles away. Actually, it might do more good than harm at the expense of a small flush.

You only need a woodchip or two, saying you dont have the room for cardboard tek is absurd considering you have room for shoveled mycelium.
I would be careful doing this in the future. It opens up the mycelium to infections and many times the stuff taken doesnt even make it..
I would also be careful doing it because people get very serious about patch rapers... ive seen some nasty stuff go down because of one dudes shovel action...
I always look for people who do this.. I have to go clean up the one patch from yesterday and I am frustrated. though the mycelium that they left behind in chunks i use as spawn. then cover it all in chips..

Absurd? Hardly. I don't have room IN my house . The chips would go from one habitat directly to another. I'm not talking about a whole spot, just one tiny patch. The spot is right next to a homeless camp, and has been getting trampled and literally shit on. I wouldn't do something like this elsewhere. Hell, if anything it's saving the patch.

If you still don't approve, I'll show it to you. Then I'll show you the spot in Skagit County I would be transferring it too. I understand the frustration. This is mitigated risk. If you saw the spot it's in you would see why.

I would have to agree with Joust here. There is nothing stopping you from transferring some of the mycelium (cardboard is so easy and simple), or spores to another location without damaging the original patch. If they are thriving in what you deem is a poor location is besides the point, let them live where they will; the more the merrier. I had some joker doing crap like that in one of my baeo patches a couple of years ago and its screwed now.

I see what you mean, but i wouldnt have the woodchips inside at all... but outside the house...
also... i find it hard to belive you dont have room for a tupperware container with a piece of cardboard and a stem butt..... like I said.. absurd that you would make that excuse... I cannot ever condone ripping up large amounts of mycelium, its overkill and theres no justification.
It is however just fungus, really just some mycelium. I dont want to be rude, its just ive seen the total loss of patches because of this... and i want to let anyone who is reading this that it is my strong experienced opinion... But I dont want to let that come between fungal hunters.

Discussions like this are only helpful when everyone remains cool headed and try to look from others point of view... and i appreciate the civil discussion and hopefully we can all learn something..

I understand where you are coming from,, i really do..
Noob Joust thought it was a great idea to do that to his private strawberry patch in his garden just to ruin all chances of both the old spot recovering and the new spot growing... so... ive done this... and its not a good idea... mushrooms love where they are at... they dont like to be moved hahaha :super:

good luck all!! :bow2:

Awesome. Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I won't do it.

I really don't have the room, for the sake of my marriage. Some fights just aren't worth it. Plus I'm saving that argument for some azzie stem butts.

I will stick to moving stem butts and a chip or two at a time. Thank you for talking me out of making a mistake.

I'm glad I was honest about my intentions so y'all could point out how stupid they were.
