Pics from Hike + an ID Question - NNJ
    #23635369 - 09/11/16 11:11 AM (7 years, 4 months ago)

Was on a hike this morning and took as good a shots as the phone would permit, clearer pics of specimen in question though below.  Thought you guys might enjoy the others.

The color has me intrigued, looked as such before handling. Found growing in leaves between ground and fallen, rotting oak tree - growing in the darkness of leaf cover. Mix of conifers in area, but the grown was mostly wrotting leaves.

Also of question is similar but larger one found also in deadfall oak, this one had only the cap showing through the wrotten oak debris. Very golden yesterday.  Found a little cluster growing in hollowed birch beside it, not sure if pictured.  Less purple but had visible tones of purple coloring in stem before handling. Print came out rusty brown, gymn???  I have turned my attention in their direction as I have more woods than pasture in my area.  The spore prints of the little cluster yielded no discernible print.

Recent area conditions have lacked good rain, but hot and humid 80's+.  Northern NJ in the sticks, beyond the bi-ways and suburbia, but not far enough.  Still very new at this, reading lots, but couldn't not ask about these...
