vermiculite - grades, etc.

Higher numbers are finer, and lower numbers are coarser?
What grade of vermiculite is best:
• in PF substrate? • for the layer on top of PF jars? • for casing?
Why is vermiculite better than perlite?
What, if anything, is perlite used for (shroom-wise)?

Any verm works. Fine is what the PF TEK recommends so.... That's the one....
Verm isn't better than perlite its totally different, they're not interchangeable
Perlite goes in a SGFC.

Id say go for the fine vermiculite even though it doesnt make much of a huge difference. I prefer the fine over the coarse because in my experience with PF tek, the fine verm sticks to the cakes much better when you roll them after dunking, compared to the bigger vermiculite grades which tend to fall off of the pf cakes when misting

Trusted Cultivator is being humble, the compiled list of teks in his signature is an amazing resource too.

You can get fine, medium and course grades. I use fine verm for just about everything though. Just watch about using it at a straight casing (mostly in bulk subs). That shit turns hard as hell sometimes when it gets wet and dries out.

Also, if you're new and your posts contain the words: Humidifer, incubator, air-stone, or heater, then you need to read and UTFSE before asking people to review your setup. OR... You should be cultivating reptiles and fish, not mushrooms.
