What problem do you see with my tub? Unhappy with my humidity level
    #23634896 - 09/11/16 07:41 AM (7 years, 4 months ago)

Day three of fruiting

I had great humidity when the holes were taped up (obviously) but after putting in my polyfill (pretty damn tight at the moment ) I lost almost all of my humidity.

The holes are 2 inch on both long sides and short sides.
This is a 66L tub also.

My other tub meanwhile has 1.5 inch holes and is holding humidity perfectly.

So what do you guys suggest I do to get that humidity back?

Don't stress too much over the humidity levels.
Make sure the surface doesn't dry out and loosen up that poly a lot more in the top holes.
You want to "place" them in the top holes, not stuff them.
This will greatly maximize FAE and your sub will fruit a lot better.

Done! Thanks for the tip. Went and did the same for my other tub also. :mushroom2:

Is that tub in a greenhouse? I would imagine that would be a bad idea as it would restrict your FAE

Totally right. Don't know how I overlooked that haha. Get the mono out of there.
The design of the tub itself is its own fruiting chamber, no need to place it in another one lol

It was a greenhouse on my last go around with no lids, I had success but had to baby it constantly and having a fan in the greenhouse was overall A TERRIBLE idea with condensation. The fan still works but has insane amount of purple covering every crevice from the spores. Amateur shit...

But no , it is no longer in the greenhouse.  I am only using the racks now with a box fan underneath it moving air around.

Awesome. But, placing the fan at the opposite end of the room blowing away from the tub would generate better airflow in your growroom IMO

This is what my setup looks like. Its on full blast 24/7 . That electricity bill will suck a little more lol.. hope its not too hazardous running it all the time. This is about the best I can do with what I've got.

You don't want it on full blast and it doesn't need to be run 24/7, that's a surefire way to dry out the surface quickly.
Keeping it on low for around 6 hours a day should suffice.
And if that's a walk-in closet, make sure to keep the door open to allow better airflow, but that goes without saying.

You actually want a 12/12 lighting cycle bub.  It is well known that mushrooms actually grow much faster during the dark cycle.  Mushrooms do not benefit from light like plants do from photosynthesis.  Mushrooms get most of their energy from the substrate itself.

I am by no means an expert but does myc normally "reach for the stars" like in your tub :P  In your second pic is that all aerial myc?

Those are not normal tubs.  They were bacterial, but they all flushed really well.

Not sure who is being referred to about the myc reaching for stars

Closer look at my tub.. the other tub is pinning now but its ugly.  It was part two of a few spawn jars that were bacterial .

I'll turn the fan off after 6 hours or whatever is suggested.  During night cycle or light cycle? And whoever called me out about my light cycle - admittedly busted. I have been going slightly over. After an actually 12/12 I noticed pins , so I'll tighten up my discipline there. I'm weird about leaving things plugged in, thats why I brought up my box fan being on 24/7 . I unplug everything when I'm not using it. Even my stove and lights. Ridiculous I know

Your myc looks weird but strong, honestly, I would say leave it be don't over think and these things will fruit...

I look forward to seeing your results

that second picture there is a perfect example of mycelium reaching for the stars.

There was another post here recently about some aerial mycelium ("reaching for the stars") that was corrected and pinning was induced with more FAE. Seems like that could be your answer here as well?

The post in question.

less water. more FAE. it's usually from being over field capacity and or bacterial spawn

Thanks guys , appreciate the feedback. I'm relatively new to all of this. My mistakes have definitely been from shitty bacterial spawn.  I definitely gave my WBS too much of a soaking and my jars have been too wet. For my 66 L tub I soaked my WBS 8 hrs less than the others.

My smaller tub is ugly as hell but it is pinning and I'm going to post a pic when I get home in 45 min..

I loosened my poly significantly on both tubs and tightened my bottom holes a little more. Also turned my fan off before leaving to work 8 hrs ago, put the fan blowing OUT of my walk in closet too. Will be posting results soon!

I'm surprised it even got this far. I was expecting to toss this one since it's brother tub didn't make it. I like the big boy in there.. I'm doing agar for the first time Wednesday.  Would you guys recommend taking a piece of the big shroom and try to clone it ?
