How do I find out where maintenance workers..

Hey guys. I've got some fairgrounds near me and I was wondering how I can find out where all the hpoo and straw goes. I've seen the cleaning crews but didn't see any markings on their vehicles and such.
Also wondering how I can find out where hedges and trimmed branches and all that go out on the coast.
I don't exactly want to call the city clerk or something, and I've checked resources but no go.
Please and thanks. =)

Ask for some at the fairground? You could tell them it's for cultivating drugs or you could think of something else like cultivating not drugs or smelling salts and something erotic.

I've tried offering volunteer help but they always decline.
Any serious answers?
I'm looking to pick where they dump it, not take home hay and poo. Or where the shredded coastal brambles go, when they're mowed and covered in spores and mycelium/flesh.

Yard trimmings are often gathered at a recycle center which mulches and then composts them. This is then sold to commercial landscapers as garden mulch. This is what i see as the normal for my local region of the PNW.
I would look for a field that is regularly overtaken by blackberry brambles, and then mowed down yearly.

Well, I've found some piles in Portland this year that I spored the heck out of (remember those long sheets of foil covered in prints? ). And yeah I'm sure in azure land they'd be popping left and right in piles.
I've found foes and a cinct at the fairgrounds but it'd be nice to find a recycling center where it all goes.
A new housing development is set for one of my smaller areas so I'm leaving early in the morning to see what I can see. Maybe they're chipping it and using it on the properties where houses will be, or flowerbeds, pathways that lead up to BBQ areas and tables etc. I've never seen the trucks come pick it up in this one area, but I think I know where the garages for them are. I'll check the horse trails and poo bins on the coast, usually there's a bunch of inactive pans.
Still tho it'd be nice to have the motherlode pile.. I'll check around the area and see if they've chipped it into the new developments. I'm pretty sure no one lives there yet, I saw a lot of unfinished homes last year, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Are you sure they bag it? That seems like a lot of unnecessary work to me. I can't ever think of a time I've seen maintenance crews bagging outside of lawns. They probably chip branches on site like previously mentioned; with the piles being too small to notice.
Calling the county clerk might not be a bad idea, anonymously of course. Maybe you "have" some yard waste you'd like to dispose of and are curious where everyone else disposes of it. Or maybe you "want" some and would like to know where it goes.
I'm sure you've already done this, but google earth? There has to be a maintenance shop with bins somewhere.
Also, as a tax payer you have a right to know who does maintenance for the state. If they use a service that is.

Hey Skags buddy what's going on?
Hah, yeah I checked Google earth. The fairgrounds has em but there's trash and kicked over mushrooms with cigarette butts and all that.
On the coast the poo bins are visible and I think at some point they stop emptying them, as the area floods in November quite often. It's why pans grow out of sand with cyans/azures I'd imagine.
The maintenance facility has tree cover. A long road from the main park disappears down a hill and disappears into azureland. Probably not a good spot to be found wandering in. Fairgrounds can eat it unless someone has a better answer.. cyans will be here in two weeks.
I was picking the whole week of them trimming branches and they were hauled away, but to where who knows, you could see drag marks from the larger limbs to one spot and presumably loaded into a truck. Maybe they chipped the smaller stuff I dunno.
I don't know why the Brit thought it'd be fun to throw in a gut punch, but I guess that's what you get when dealing with people from a cut-rate superpower.
On the real, what're they gonna do, track the phone number of a guy asking how to responsibly dispose of downed trees and hedge clippings? Great job keep posting..

Same here man. I've got a nice beach to show you if you make your way down here. Would love to see some of your pelliculosa photos, even if you don't take any home and find yourself in the mountains.

Any tree debris is usually chipped on site or chipped and blown into a truck for later use. Sometimes it goes to a city maintenance yard, other times it will go to a processing company like Wood Waste Management.
As for horse crap, you can find plenty of free horse crap on craigslist.

There is a dump by my house that takes yard waste and chips it to sell to who ever for mulch. I've always considered waiting for several days of downpour then go over there as someone interested in buying mulch and just look over the piles. I imagine they have no clue what you'd really be looking for, so if they left you alone a moment, snag what you can.

You might find something growing on the outskirts of a debris yard, but it is VERY unlikely you'll find anything growing on one of the piles. Their mulch/chips are their product, and they are constantly moving those supplies. a lot of chip piles are gone as fast as the came. Not enough time to be colonized and fruit.
The large mulch piles stick around for a minute some times, but they are constantly turning them for high-temp decomposition.

Good point about the constant movement of the woodchips, I didn't consider that. The outskirts would probably be more promising. I may go out there to check that kind of area out still on a whim. I don't have any qualms about trespassing, but I try not to leave a trace out of respect. It still feels like an adventure when the stakes are raised a little though.

Office parks that do a lot of landscaping usually have one spot where they dump all their waste on site, I have found those areas to be pretty reliable places to find woodchips and woodchip dwelling fungi

I've never picked a psychodelic off wood chips, only horse and cow manure. I imagine I'm looking for a psilocybe cubes is with a wavy look about it.

Saprotrophic mushrooms eat wood. There's more than one species of magic mushrooms. Many here grow on wood.

I can't wait until flail mowers come and pull the brambles out to reveal these firecracker fuckers. I think some of these were when I figured out how to slide sideways through time. 2g had me going for 8 hours and I was still tripping while picking the next morning and still glowing by afternoon.
I may have to do some bramble cutting myself and save the maintenance workers some time.
Pretty af, potent af.
Right out the ground and into a dehydrator about 30 minutes later.

So I did see some areas in azureland that had a newer layer of chips than last year. Around historical markers and benches and bike paths, or little landscaped areas with placards and stuff.
I think they put it there in spring, and it's not far from where they would be chipping on site. I look forward to exploring these areas, even if they're not right *on* the coast. Man, I love picking season, there's so many places to explore out here. Blows my mind.

that's funny you mention that mulch around the benches (and other stuff). it crossed my mind the other day that i should start thinking of the elusive fall east coast ovoids and i've got one spot in particular where they mulch under these rando benches that overlook the water. i found a few right under the benches last spring in that mulch you speak of.
under those benches was a tiny, micro-est of microclimats where the ground didn't dry quite as quick after nighttime dew and rainshowers so it held moisture just that little bit longer.
of course much of the the PNW is a different ballgame wrt to moisture. just a coincidence to read your post today.

I've found shit tons around historical marker benches. They're just sitting there ripe for the picking most of the time. How I found my first allenii. No one actually sits on the darn things for the most part. Dogs tend to ignore psilocybes which makes me feel better about consuming them.
