If you've done any research or have interest in Military Operations that took place in Montauk near the time this show is set in (1980's) then you will certainly enjoy this show. Hell the original name, & fairly certain the original location within the show, was Montauk. Guess they couldn't be too specific.. This is much more applies to season 1 as nearly every experiment in the show has been done, and admitted to by our own government. MK-ultra? Even our President Clinton admitted and apologized to these experiments that were conducted to some degree on millions over decades. Montauk was said to have been a faction/compartmentalization of such experiments. Season 2 is much more pure fiction sci-fi; however very enjoyable.

I watched the first episode of season 2... I had a feeling it would have a slow start to it, but damn that was the most boring consecutive 45 minutes or whatever of watching TV ever. The storms looked pretty cool though.

I'm about to start episode 3, first season. I'm into it big time. I'm a sucker for 80's stuff though.

If you like the music from the show, and 80s music in general, you might be interested in a niche genre called synthwave. It’s 80s inspired modern dance music.

Reminds me of System Shock, for some reason. Or pretty much any of those video games from the early 90s. It's got that early sound card vibe going for it, I guess.

The music is what makes the show so great, imo. Gonna check out that genre for sure.

Haha well, if you’re gonna binge do it right lol
I really liked the first season and the second season I haven’t really gotten into it yet but it’s good.
There’s also, is that what you’re into? I mean because if you don’t like retro, scary child actors then this might not be your series?

Oh but Winona Ryder just absolutely over acts the whole time. I mean it’s like the director said I just want you to over due, and she agreed.
I’m not saying at all that I don’t like her acting because it’s really good but, it’s a bit over the top

That’s some cool video game music for sure!
Rocky: the score is by 2 members of S U R V I V E, the whole group makes some cool music as well! I have the first season OST on a cool split transparent red/blue LP.
Citizen X: I know what you’re saying, but I actually think Ryder plays the role well. Through the first season especially, she just seems so distraught and hen-pecked. And I get it. I’m naturally a very anxious person, and if my son was missing and likely dead, I’d be absolutely losing my shit. Probably worse than she did. So her acting there makes sense to me.

I found her pretty convincing as well. It probably helps that she is legit crazy in real life.

Haha, yeah. That shoplifting incident tho.
I love Ryder. Beetlejuice and Heathers are absolute classics that I watched a million times back then, so she was a part of my childhood, in a way. I was thrilled to see her in the first season of ST, and in such great form too. I think she turned in an excellent performance in a role she’s been perfectly cast in. Very pleased to see a Winona Ryder comeback.
I also would like to see a Rick Moranis comeback, but I’m not gonna hold my breath waiting for it.

I mean yeah it's a similar style musically, but tonally it doesn't compare to that rich 80s synth sound.

@Burke thanks dude! I have been listening to so synthwave playlists. I will check them out!
I'm like halfway through the last episode of season one. Fucking epic so far!
Lol, at when Steve walks into thhe house right before the standoff with the monster thing, it looked like he was walking into a tweaker den. Nancy and Jonathan look all tweaked out with weapons looking around all crazy. Major laughs from that scene. They turned into bad assess (with all the traps, and just attitude in general) pretty quick.
This is like the series stephen king never wrote.
Edit:
I'm really glad that Steve turned it around too, I like a good douche -> good guy subplot [\spoiler]
