Ten years to grow peyote sure. Look into trichocereus species. Ie san pedro, peuvian torch or bridgesii.

San Pedro and Peruvian Torch are readily available. Also there's been a lot of synthetic mescaline around the last few years.

Cactus takes years to grow. Peyote is the most potent but also the slowest. A single Peyote takes 10 years or more to reach full size and you have to eat several mature plants / buttons.
SanPedro (Trichocereus pachanoi) is another potent cactus. It grows several meters in height, and grows much faster than Peyote. A single, well rooted colum can grow a full dose in less than two years!
You can buy cuttings of a foot or bigger at nurseries / flowershops, living plants / cuttings are legal in most countries.

Definitely worth the wait but you don't have to. You can find peyote dried and bagged in the display case if you know the right shops in Canada or maybe even a cut of San Pedro. Don't expect to trip for $10 though.
Try it first. If you like it, think about fostering a few plants if for nothing other than to keep an endangered species (peyote) alive and well.

peyote can take roughly a decade to become active when grown from seed, other psychedelic cacti become active/grow much faster.
