i wouldve loved to see eyedea and eminem go at it in a freestyle battle. that would have a bigger battle than tupac vs biggie.

Same.
Recently 're-discovered' his stuff per se. Instead of hearing a bunch of flibbidy flip flop in some hippidy hip hop there's actually some very, very clever artistry involved in his stuff. Dudes a rap God.
Its interesting seeing the way his psyche and views and all that jazz have changed through his music. An interesting record of records.

Tech is awesome for sure, I'd have to say Wu Tang or Bone Thugs (Est 1999) is my favorite rap for the most part. Everyone in those crews have sick flow. Also huge into ASAP Rocky and Flatbush Zombies.

Slim shady is the GOAT of freestyle rapping you gotta be crazy if you think otherwise, the only thing with me is I dont like ANY of his new stuff at all. BIG L heavily uderratted im happy you guys mentioned him, he wouldve been on the same level as Jay-z/Nas if they never off'ed him.
heres one of my fav BIG L tracks, I used to listen to this on the bus on the way to school in 4th grade

When I was a kid and actually listened to rap I was very into Eminem, I knew a ton of his lyrics. Even saw him live with my best childhood friend and our moms
Both our moms were huge fans too so they bought me tickets for my birthday one year. I was probably like 10 at the time funny stuff.
I always laugh looking back at how I went through my rap phase before I was even in my teens meanwhile so many 20-30 year old "bro's" are deep into it

I am not trying to be a but honestly yes. 99% of the time when I hear hip hop or electronic music now the repetitive beats start driving me insane within minutes. Its literally painful to my ears. I just love super complex experimental music so 99% of the stuff with looped beats starts boring me within minutes
For awhile I would still occasionally get down to some MF Doom or Tribe Called Quest but it has been a year or two since I last did most likely.
I still own a 3-5 of their albums on vinyl at least but now I just want crazy prog/ jazz albums

malcolm, tons of people are pretentious twats when it comes to hip hop. Shouldn't be surprising seeing those attitudes come out in this type of community.
Eminem is definitely talented, but I don't listen to his music much. Those first two lps were classics though.

hip hop and rap fuckin suck
i went to a hip hop concert with a bunch of big name super OG underground artists my super heddy graffiti-writting hippity-hoppity friend dragged me to once, easily the worst show ive ever been to. i dont even remember who played it was some big names tho. ive also seen chance the rapper which was cool except chance himself sucked it was just the background music which was cool.
all rap and hip-hop is, is a bunch of hustlepuppies trying to act popular.
they're not going to get more popular than me, it's simply not feasable and they should give up while they're behind.
country sucks too, i went to a legit country concert in the south once and they played at the speed of .0000001mph playing really whiney shit. i change my mind, the country concert sucked more.
some southern rock can be cool tho or some country shit thats fast paced can be cool, otherwise it sucks
when people say "i like all music xept rap n country" they say it for a reason

I'll admit I'm a fan of Eminem. His older stuff moreso but the new stuff is good for different reasons. Older Eminem had more of a bouncy flow to his lines and took shit less seriously. I appreciate his persona because it's implicit to the fact that he's personifying hip hop rather than saying he lives it. That gives him a lot of freedom for expression to be a comedian rather than a psychopath. My favourite track is for sure Just Don't Give A Fuck. The second verse with, "This is lyrical combat, gentleman hold your pistols, but I form like voltron and blast you with my shoulder missiles." Dank. Or earlier, "My name is Marshall Mathers, I'm an alcoholic(hi Marshall!), I have a disease and they don't know what to call it, better hide your wallet, 'cause I'm comin' up quick to strip your cash, bought a ticket to your concert, just to come and whip your ass." Sploosh. I have a lot memorized. The Real Slim Shady will always be a favourite for me too. The Bad Meets Evil stuff he does is good too, Royce is solid and definitely compliments Em's style. I love that first verse. Kill You is solid as well. The wigger in me loves rapping to that shit. "Serial killer hiding murder material in a cereal box on top of your stereo" feels really fucking weird to say when you're going at it. It's really odd the way your tongue feels in your mouth when you're bustin' hella rapz.

If recollection serves me well, I recall this young man writing and singing a rendition which described in graphic detail, a morbid and unforgiving circumstance in which he placed his then pregnant girlfriend Kimberley, into the trunk of an automobile with the intention to drive it off a bridge.
I can only hope that the story was one that pertained to fiction for those involved. I do believe he's still alive and well, so this would prove it to be the case.

Yo Niffla. You tripped to the official video for this track? If not i highly recommend it
Haha no, I should've last night though because I was tripping when I made the OP. Em was blowing my mind while I was smoking a few cigarettes jamming out to him on the Ipod, and I was like

I agree with those that mentioned his earlier stuff -- I think the Marshall Mathers LP is arguably the best rap album ever. That shit was raw.
But the dude still got it. It's fashionable and hip for people these days to say that Em sucks and can't rap no more, but truth is, technically and lyrically he's still as elite as any dude out there
This is one of my favorites from that last album by the way
Love how dude changes up his voice and shit in the middle of a flow, like when he starts rapping like Yoda on this track lol
Dude is sick on the mic when he's in his zone

Eyedea was amazing. Really bummed me out when I learned he OD'd in 2010. Old school Em was great but lyrics can't touch this depth.

Depends what type, for the most part I'd agree but Johnny Cash
Johnny Cash is good, I don't mind him, or old stuff like Doc Watson, I just don't like the new country, it's like pop redneck music.
I can't believe Doc got a shout out in this thread. With that being said, Doc is the greatest musician to ever live as well as his heros, The Skillet Lickers, Riley Puckett, Grayson and Whitter, but on another note Aesop Rock and Sage Francis kill eminem when it comes to hip hop.

I'd say canibus is a better rapper as well but just my opinion, could go on for days with rappers I believe to be superior, although I do enjoy m n m
I like the Gravediggaz as well as RZA and wu-Tang. I just think canibus is on something awful, and I didn't just hear that from Em.

Hi Niffla. I read something interesting about this 'Rap God' track tonight. From 2013 to present it was in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most wordy rap hit. Over 1500 words, 4.24 words a second. Next year it will be replaced in the Guinness Book by the song below, which is only 5 seconds longer than Rap God, but contains over 1700 words, at 4.79 per second. I'm not saying that this guy is a better rapper than eminem or that the song is better, but I did find it an interesting fact & thought you might be interested too.
