I enjoy gza as well as the rest of wu tang more than slim shady, among others
I'd say canibus is a better rapper as well but just my opinion, could go on for days with rappers I believe to be superior, although I do enjoy m n m

Slim shady is the GOAT of freestyle rapping you gotta be crazy if you think otherwise, the only thing with me is I dont like ANY of his new stuff at all. BIG L heavily uderratted im happy you guys mentioned him, he wouldve been on the same level as Jay-z/Nas if they never off'ed him.
heres one of my fav BIG L tracks, I used to listen to this on the bus on the way to school in 4th grade

Eminem never lost his talent but his new music comes from a different place, it's more about healing and such... I don't listen to it but I can see why people would like it

When I was a kid and actually listened to rap I was very into Eminem, I knew a ton of his lyrics. Even saw him live with my best childhood friend and our moms
Both our moms were huge fans too so they bought me tickets for my birthday one year. I was probably like 10 at the time funny stuff.
I always laugh looking back at how I went through my rap phase before I was even in my teens meanwhile so many 20-30 year old "bro's" are deep into it

Are your music tastes so sophisticated that you're above rap music?

I am not trying to be a but honestly yes. 99% of the time when I hear hip hop or electronic music now the repetitive beats start driving me insane within minutes. Its literally painful to my ears. I just love super complex experimental music so 99% of the stuff with looped beats starts boring me within minutes
For awhile I would still occasionally get down to some MF Doom or Tribe Called Quest but it has been a year or two since I last did most likely.
I still own a 3-5 of their albums on vinyl at least but now I just want crazy prog/ jazz albums

malcolm, tons of people are pretentious twats when it comes to hip hop. Shouldn't be surprising seeing those attitudes come out in this type of community.
Eminem is definitely talented, but I don't listen to his music much. Those first two lps were classics though.

hip hop and rap fuckin suck
i went to a hip hop concert with a bunch of big name super OG underground artists my super heddy graffiti-writting hippity-hoppity friend dragged me to once, easily the worst show ive ever been to. i dont even remember who played it was some big names tho. ive also seen chance the rapper which was cool except chance himself sucked it was just the background music which was cool.
all rap and hip-hop is, is a bunch of hustlepuppies trying to act popular.
they're not going to get more popular than me, it's simply not feasable and they should give up while they're behind.
country sucks too, i went to a legit country concert in the south once and they played at the speed of .0000001mph playing really whiney shit. i change my mind, the country concert sucked more.
some southern rock can be cool tho or some country shit thats fast paced can be cool, otherwise it sucks
when people say "i like all music xept rap n country" they say it for a reason

I like everything but country, I don't mind hip hop, but to be immersed in that scene, would make me feel like a fish out of water.

Depends what type, for the most part I'd agree but Johnny Cash and Chris Smither are two country singers off the top of my head that are extremely talented artists. Both would make your head explode on a trip, in a really good way.

I'll admit I'm a fan of Eminem. His older stuff moreso but the new stuff is good for different reasons. Older Eminem had more of a bouncy flow to his lines and took shit less seriously. I appreciate his persona because it's implicit to the fact that he's personifying hip hop rather than saying he lives it. That gives him a lot of freedom for expression to be a comedian rather than a psychopath. My favourite track is for sure Just Don't Give A Fuck. The second verse with, "This is lyrical combat, gentleman hold your pistols, but I form like voltron and blast you with my shoulder missiles." Dank. Or earlier, "My name is Marshall Mathers, I'm an alcoholic(hi Marshall!), I have a disease and they don't know what to call it, better hide your wallet, 'cause I'm comin' up quick to strip your cash, bought a ticket to your concert, just to come and whip your ass." Sploosh. I have a lot memorized. The Real Slim Shady will always be a favourite for me too. The Bad Meets Evil stuff he does is good too, Royce is solid and definitely compliments Em's style. I love that first verse. Kill You is solid as well. The wigger in me loves rapping to that shit. "Serial killer hiding murder material in a cereal box on top of your stereo" feels really fucking weird to say when you're going at it. It's really odd the way your tongue feels in your mouth when you're bustin' hella rapz.

Johnny Cash is good, I don't mind him, or old stuff like Doc Watson, I just don't like the new country, it's like pop redneck music.
