Using lemon cologne instead of alcohol?

I was wondering if lemon cologne (such as this one) could be used when cleaning tools and surfaces, instead of iso alcohol. It's 80% alcohol with lemon fragarance in it and it's really cheap and easy to find around here. What do you think?

Anything with alcohol in it works really. Though I'd prefer my work surfaces to evaporate dry instead of leaving behind chemicals (like the ones that make your stuff smell good)
But it would work.

It's just alcohol, distilled water and lemon essence. Lemon essence wouldn't hurt I guess.
I prefer regular iso alcohol too but I had so many people asking me this lately, I finally decided to learn and have the answer for them .)
Thanks

I don't have any experience with it or anything, but it sounds like it would work just fine.m to disinfect surfaces with.
Just remember that you need to sterilize inoculation tools. Alcohol ain't gonna do the trich.
The trich. Haha. Made a funny.

Good one.
what do you mean by inoculation tools? Like syringes and scalpels?

Yes. Always flame those. Never use alcohol to sterilize because it isn't reliable.

Ofc I always flame sterilize my syringes before inoculation, and will flame sterilize my scalpel when I (hopefully) see some growth in my agar plates .)

What's the point just use 70% iso the 70% is important as it sterilizes better

not just that but I think it penetrates the bacterial cell walls better as it tricks it into thinking it is water.
well that info may be slightly off and outdated but that's what I remember
hope someone will chime in
hint hint TC's

it's not evaporation rate. it's an osmotic thing. with too high % alcohol the cells don't even take it in. it has to be diluted enough (under 80%) to be effective against a wide range of things.
you can make 70% out of 91% just add 30% water. so if you have 500mL of 91% add 150mL h2o and you have 70%.

I thought 70% is recommended because the water content lengthens the evaporation time and gives the alcohol more time to penetrate the cell walls and be effective.

evaporation is secondary to it's ability to actually do its job.

and what about an extra ingredient? like lemon essence? will it affect effectiveness?

natural lemon oil has disinfectant properties of it's own so it could be beneficial to have it in the mix. just make sure that the product you're getting has actual lemon oil and not just some chemical that smells like lemon. citrus oils can be a bit caustic though, they make a paint stripper out of orange oil, so it would probably be good to avoid leaving any residue behind. here's a basic recipe to make this yourself and some other uses for it: http://www.liverenewed.com/2013/08/green-cleaning-with-lemon-essential-oil-green-in-365.html
