You must have never had bad acne, I considered getting laser peels on my face back when I had acne problems.

outside of allergies/severe dermal cases, most acne is diet-related, especially post-pubescent

Not true at all. Acne, especially for adult women, is hormonal in a lot of cases. Women with higher androgen and testosterone levels have more acne problems, especially acne around the jawline and cheek area signifies hormone imbalances.
Hence why women who are pregnant or have recently given birth will often suffer from adult acne.
Spironolactone (androgen suppressors) cured my acne, in combination with birth control pills.
I've heard Accutane works too, but it's so harsh on the liver that you need to get a mandatory a blood test every month.
My acne eventually went away on its own, and now all I use is a tretinoin cream on my face. My acne came back when I was experimenting with roids, and I had to go on Solodyn and use a sulfur wash on my back to cure it.

i'd be interested to know what their diet is
not doubting that you may be right, but i'm still curious, especially as pregnant women are known to indulge in specific foods (hence the cravings that occur)

I specifically started breaking out after I detoxed from opiates. Which makes sense, because opiates are a natural androgen suppressor. So when I got off them, my testosterone shot through the roof and I suffered from acne for years before I found a solution that could fix it.
Certainly, I've noticed that certain foods, especially dairy tends to give me breakouts. But it will only be 1 or 2 pimples after I consume dairy. Severe acne problems is cysts and pustules literally all over your face, it makes you look like a monster.
I've noticed pregnant women are more likely to eat carbs, since morning sickness typically occurs from meats and fish and animal products.
It might seem like diet because hormone changes cause dietary habits to change. But it's the hormones causing the dietary changes, not the other way around.

BTW I think you would have made a good FTM Not saying that to be insulting in any way
I actually think I would have too
In fact, every now and then, especially when I was going through my roids phase, I thought extensively about whether to transition fully to FTM, maybe later on in my 40's. I already have the square jaw, I have a husky masculine voice, and high cheekbones, I think I'd make a pretty decent-looking guy.
The only thing I have going against me is that I'm short. 5'5" is not a good look for a man, even with big muscles.
My main worry though, would be transitioning, only to discover that I end up a really ugly man. I mean, I don't want to go through all that only to realize that I end up looking like one of those fugly ass dudes, that would suck. And I wouldn't be able to revert back to a woman after that, because my jaw structure has completely changed after hormone therapy, I'd end up looking like a butch woman for the rest of my life.
In reality though I'd probably get tons of plastic surgery first before I consider gender reassignment surgery. I mean, if I have all that money to change my looks, I'd probably go one direction first before I went the other.
I don't know why transmen are less common than transwoman, maybe nature things too far more that not far enough?
I wouldn't call you cisgender anymore for having these thoughts.
I don't consider myself an ugly girl, at least average looking, but even being an ugly woman is way more appealing to me that being perceived as any sort of male no matter how attractive. I think if you were solidly trans being an ugly guy would be more appealing than being any girl, because being your true self feels very good.
I wonder what the statistics are on suicides due to being really ugly, lol.
Facial surgery is the only surgery I'd truly want at this point, but eh, thats a tollbooth that is way far up the road.

I suspect there's a biological phenomenon to it.
Apparently women produce more and more estrogen with each time they get pregnant.
This means that a son who is the fifth child will be exposed to exponentially far more estrogen in the womb than a first-born daughter.
I forget what the exact statistics were, but your 3rd son is apparently like 3 times more likely to be homosexual than a 1st-born son, and one of the reasons they suspect this is due to the increased estrogen that happens with each pregnancy.
