This is the devastating effect of heroin that Ohio city wants you to see

Quote:
(CNN) A city in Ohio says it decided to release a set of graphic photos to drive home the devastating effects of heroin addiction and the toll it takes on families. The photos show a man and woman passed out in the front seat of a car with a child sitting in the back.
"We feel it necessary to show the other side of this horrible drug," a post on the city of East Liverpool's Facebook page reads, explaining its decision. "We feel we need to be a voice for the children caught up in this horrible mess." The traffic stop The photographs, which the city government posted on its Facebook page with a graphic warning, come from a traffic stop Wednesday by city police. East Liverpool police Officer Kevin Thompson approached the driver, James Acord, who was weaving erratically between lanes, noticing the man's head "bobbing back and forth his speech was almost unintelligible," according to an affidavit. Thompson said Acord was trying to tell him that he was taking the passenger passed out in the front seat, Rhonda Pasek, to a hospital. But immediately afterward, the driver lost consciousness -- and Thompson saw a little boy in the back of the car.

The effects of overdose The boy turned out to be Pasek's 4-year-old son. The officer noticed she was starting to turn blue. He called emergency medical technicians, who administered Narcan, an opiate reversal agent that can save the life of someone acutely overdosing. According to court documents, Acord pleaded no contest to operating a vehicle while impaired and endangering a child. He was sentenced Thursday to 360 days in jail, had his driver's license suspended for three years and was fined $475. Pasek pleaded not guilty Thursday to endangering a child, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. She is scheduled to appear for a pretrial hearing next week in East Liverpool Municipal Court. Her bond was set at $150,000, CNN affiliate WTOV-TV in Steubenville, Ohio, reported. The photographs "We are well aware that some may be offended by these images and for that we are truly sorry, but it is time that the non drug using public sees what we are now dealing with on a daily basis," the city government said on Facebook. "The poison known as heroin has taken a strong grip on many communities not just ours, the difference is we are willing to fight this problem until it's gone and if that means we offend a few people along the way we are prepared to deal with that."
This is for all my fellow shroomerites, not just some bullshit article. Take a real hard look at the pictures. I've passed out in cars the same exact way, I almost have to fight back tears while linking this. Please guys, take care. Fucking opiates are killing us

Don't worry about it. Pharma has a new "non addictive withdrawal free" opiate coming out soon to help wean people off of heroin. Man what was society doing before this wonder drug was being developed.
What's that? Kratom? Never heard of him.

Except kratom is still addictive and causes withdrawals like real opiates. Too bad its banned now though because it was such a great natural substitute for opiates as long as you don't have a real tolerance from IV heroin.
Im pretty excited by the new drug coming out though. Sounds like it wont really get people high unless they are opiate naïve but even then it probably wont because its binding affinity for the u-opioid receptors is low. Sounds like its gonna be a wonder-drug for weaning people off of opiates.

Does he get a bill for that? When all is said and done did the taxpayers pay for that Narcan? I'm having a debate with s friend. I am trying to come up with reasons he has to pay for his children's lifesaving medicines but there is money to keep losers like this alive artificially. Give me one

Narcan is cheap. Cheaper than the obligatory ambulance ride either way.

Wow, a year in jail, a suspended license and a small fine. That'll fix the problem.

An old friend of mine was recently caught asleep at the wheel in a parking lot with the engine running with lots of oxy and other pills... He'll likely do at least a few months.

They said the same thing about suboxone, and that was a load of shit. I was sick for a month when I kicked that shit. Nothing makes me feel that this new drug will be any different.

Lol no one does just a little heroin. No one ive ever known anyways.
Theyre chumps for getting strung out while driving their kids to school, not for not handling their heroin. Most people cant handle their heroin, it gets the best of probably 95% of the people who frequently use it. Not to mention fent laced shit, not much one can do about that..

Addicts in my area don't really have cars. Don't have kids for long either.
I don't blame the drug either. It's the epidemic of social isolation.

This is real sad and all, but drugs didn't cause this. Idiotic behavior and horrible parenting caused this.
What bothers me even more than junkie parents is law enforcement exploiting this child for their own purposes.
They didn't even blur the kids face out before they went and spread this shit all over the internet. (The original was unblurred, the photo you linked to was blurred because unlike the cops, CNN apparently DOES have some small amount of decency.)
I'm sure when that kid goes to school he is going to love being known as the kid with the junkie parents. Idiot cops...

I blame the drug partially. Not entirely, i mean shit, i dont care how much of an addict i am i would never put my own child in that position. They couldve at least waited til they dropped the kid off before they went full retard.
The thing is that heroin is a terrible recreational drug. There is no such thing as "safe heroin use," thats like safe suicide.
I mean people blame drug use for poor judgement all the time. Rightfully so to an extent, no arguing that it effects the judgement/decision making parts of your brain. If you think of what heroin is, you cant help but put some of the blame on heroin. Its a dirt cheap, easily available, highly addictive, soul stealing drug that will change you for the worse once addicted.

I wanna know who the fuck sees and identifies (i mean, i can imagine someone walking by and maaaaybe mistaking them for just Being asleep) the situation and takes the time to take a fucking picture.
If i walk up on a car and see parents blatantly od'd with a kid in the backseat the first thing i do is try to get the fucking kid out. Not "hang on kid, i gotta take a picture real quick, sarge is not gonna believe this.... ok out the car, MA'AM SIR!! YOUR ASS IS UNDER ARREST bla bla bla"
You get my point. I say charge the officer with endangerment. Clearly the kids wellfare wasn't the priority here, making a fucking statement comes first apparently.
Fucking monsters.

Exactly! WTF?! The cops are clearly more concerned with using this situation to promote their agenda. They obviously haven't even given a second of thought to what the child might want.
I wonder if it ever occurred to these worthless dipshits that the child might not want a picture of himself with his ODed parents floating around on the internet for the rest of his life?
Fuck idiot cop scum.
Quote:
Mush 4 Brains said: The thing is that heroin is a terrible recreational drug.
No, heroin is not a "terrible" recreational drug. It is NOT a recreational drug. Opiates are recreational drugs.
The people who are too stupid to realize that are usually the people who become addicts, and it is 120% of the time always the persons fault they become addicted. It is never "Heroin's" fault that a person becomes an addict.
Quote:
Mush 4 Brains said: I blame the drug partially.
I gotta disagree. Heroin doesn't make people do things. That is not debatable. It is the nature of reality. Inanimate objects don't have decision making skills. People DO.
Heroin is an inanimate substance. Addicts make themselves addicts with their decisions. In no situation is it ever "Heroin's" fault, that a person became addicted to it.
I know people hate accepting personal responsibility for their addictions, so they like to try to blame the drugs, but that just isn't how reality works.
For example, I lost a good friend to heroin OD two years ago, but I don't go around pretending like heroin killed my friend, because it didn't. My friend killed himself (accidentally) by being an idiot and injecting highly potent opiates into his arm. The end. In no way was it heroin's fault that my friend made that decision.

You guys realize why the pigs are using this picture, right?
In many cases, drug addiction is a victimless crime. But when addicts who are parents neglect or abuse their children because of their addictions, that is one of the rare situations in which there is a clear victim.
This makes the child a powerful tool for law enforcement, because they can exploit the child for the purpose of justifying their atrocious and immoral behavior in regards to the war on drugs.
