Questions about Bonnaroo
    #2363123 - 02/21/04 11:47 AM (13 years, 5 months ago)

1) Where did the name "Bonnaroo" come from?

2) Do you think Phish will ever play Bonnaroo? It would be interesting to see Phish and The Dead on the same ticket.

Phish is to big to play Bonnaroo you will never see them there. They won't play festivals with other bands. It would just make the ticket demand horrible they also have bad luck with gate crashers. The name comes from some 70's album I can't remember right now. It appears in the Liner notes to Peter Framptons "Frampton Comes Alive" on the sign outside the Winterland Arena. It is a fancy word for good stuff.

You'd think Phish would be all about playing with The Dead.

No actually they are scared to death of the association because they have been pegged for years as Grateful Dead wanna be's.

I'd love it but I highly doubt it will ever happen.

Could someone debunk a rumor that a friend told me. I know it sounds ridiculous, but my friend told me that everyone in the town that Bonnaroo is held get's free tickets to the event. Could someone tell me weither that's true or false?

I feel stupid even asking that question. I mean, what a ridiculous concept.

Well the majority of the young people in the town work the festival... good pay, and free admission for them. I dunno about free tickets, but I remember talking to people working there last year who were all from the local community.

bonnaroo is a cajun word that means "a really really good time" the group that promotes the show (superfly i think) is from new orleans.

that's what it says inside the dvd anyways.

Who really cares anyway...I mean, there's not really any bigger sold-out corporate events than bonnaroo these days, except maybe lollapalooza.

I don't think I'll make it to Bonnaroo again for that reason.  Fucking Springsteen might be there?  Please

Time for me to focus on just attending smaller festivals, I tend to have more fun at those anyway.

yea dude.....ive met so many people at smaller festivals that are like family to me now on the road.  granted, i go to alota shows, both big and small.  but if i werent to attend the smaller festivals theres a good chance i wouldnt have half the community of friends that i do now.  its like, at smaller festivals, everyone kinda gets to know each other by the end of it ya know.  alot more intimate.  security for the most part is usualy hella cooler too.  usualy they are just heads on golf carts where as big festivals alota times its corrupt ass security companys that just ruff people up and steal all their drugs.
