Yellow Amanita I.D. Needed Please, Northern Michigan
    #23629413 - 09/09/16 03:20 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Hi guys! I know you get a million ID requests, but I just need a little help from an expert. However, any and all help is appreciated!
All these were found under or near pine trees.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Habitat:
Forest area, always next to pine. Northern Michigan(GLADWIN).
Gills:
Yellow-ish/creme
Bruising:
Some bruise yellow a little, some don't.
Other information:
Just picked these today. They don't ever stay around too long, the deer eat them up like crazy here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have a feeling they may be the var. guessowii, and hoping they are not Amanita frostiana.

I have been studying amanitas for years now, I just can't tell the difference in person between the Amanita frostiana, and var. guessowii.
I almost see contradictory identifiers when reading up. Like, the formosa aka guessowii has a white ish stipe, but the frostiana does to.

I appreciate any and all help. Thank you very much in advance! :smile:

Yeah, it's just the Amanita frostiana im worried about.

I'm well aware of the destroying Angels and death caps. I always steer clear of the white/tan ones.

Can you eat Guessowii fresh?

I have experimented with some DC amanitas from BBB, so I kind of know what to expect.

However, it seems that these give a little bit of a different effect from what I hear. (More speedy?)

If i do try any, I would only take a small bite. Would this even have any noticeable effects? (fresh)
