Those are aborting. If some are too far gone, they won't grow up from there. Increase FAE because I am seeing some decent fuzzy feet. Possibly even remove top poly all together at this point in development

I'm still waiting on agar plates, and am continuing my outdoor work. I worked on a smaller planter of firewitch, after the work I did yesterday cleaning up the Monster.
I had a bunch of leftover colonized chips and soil from the work I did yesterday on my larger planter. I had to move this mycelium, as my peat settled and I don't want it exposed these next 2 sunny dry and hot weeks.
The Monster had way too much visible myc on the surface after the peat sunk. I harvested some of it and traced it along the edges. The plain cooking chips have been sitting there leeching into the soil and decaying for the past few weeks.
So I mixed some myc riddled soil and colonized chips kind of 75/25. Enough to fill in the gaps between new chips to cover all surfaces. Aimed to get enough myc soil to be encompassing each chip.
I put a layer of peat and brought it up to the sides of the firewitch. I used mycelium soil and let it fall into the blades and nooks and crannies. Poured water on it and now that soil is stuck right at the base of it forever.
She drank almost 2 litres of water. Monster drank 4. I've been careful lately on not overwatering them, but it'll be 80s and sunny for two weeks. I put a light layer of peat over everything at the end to give it some shade. I'm not trying to fill the Firewitch, after all, and there needs to be room for sticks and butts and leaves when the season starts in a month.
I patched the Monster with peat. It's going to be hot and sunny the next two weeks, and hell, it might need more tomorrow. I bet this is the worst time to let them recover, even if they won't be fruiting until March (or next fall), but I'll be feeding them all season.

I graduated from pp5's to glass jars and plastic lids. I just need to balance them better in the PC and use way less agar.
It's brown because it's leeched alder wood water from untreated cooking chips. I used it as a base for receiving plates for Psilocybe allenii and two phenotypes of Ps. azurescens for their third transfers. I'm pretty positive that this will be the last, and if wood water works, they'll be transfered into pasties for tiger drop and onto oats.
I've noticed the biggest problem that wood loving psilocybes have is making that first jump to wood. What I'm hoping for here is to get that out of the way first so I don't have to mix chips with grain and mess up moisture content or bring contams out from deep within the wood etc. That's all I ever see when I see pictures of wood and grain mixed together.

I thought I was the only one who cared enough to print in an SAB.
The closest anyone will get to clean spores is of course an invitro agar pin, but at least taking a few minor steps is respectful IMO. Like, why hand something shitty over to someone if you could have spent ten minutes and gave them something better.

These PP5s took some abuse. They colonized with a little bit of bacteria, then got shipped from the ET to MT in a hot moving box courtesy of u-hail , and then were left sitting in a dark closet for a couple of weeks where a few of them colonized invitro. So I plucked the invitro bastards, cased with verm in a pinch, and fruited.
Now they are all pinning except 1 that I used grass clippings with maybe it'll be later in the game. One thing is for sure though I'm never using verm to case again. The stuff turns to concrete in the middle after you must it and now all my pins are coming from the edges. Terrible as a casing option IMO.

hey lil (and anyone else who does prints like this), when you print on one large piece of foil like that, with the caps only like an inch apart, how do you individually fold/wrap them up for trade/giveaway (if you do use them for that, and not just personal)? just cut with x-acto and top with another piece of foil and fold edges? i am just curious. i hate having to individually chop foil before printing, and set it all up in a criss-cross, over-under fashion to print.. so tedious.
oh, and sloppy, i just wanted to give a shout out to your gulps, because i turned one cake into three gulps, and it gave me far more than any other single cake ever has. they probably wouldve done even better if i wouldnt have gotten greedy and did 1:3 ration and if i did 1:2 at max with them. havent updated my log of them in my journal in a while, but am probably going to today with the weights and pics.
