It's a difficult question to answer, everyone is different and reacts to these substances differently, there has been studies that have shown it can help with depression but there's also been stories of bad trips that resulted in depression for days, weeks, or even months. (IME though, a bad trip is the most relieving/refreshing of them all, after I come out of it anyway )
It could literally go either way, best recommendation is just start with smaller doses and work your way up to whatever your sweet spot is so you don't accidently take too much and get overwhelmed and have a bad time, can always take more next time, can't take less once you eat them. So to answer your question, they can, but that doesn't mean they will.
"or get going generally in life and being at oneness with your being"
They might help show you something about yourself that's part of your struggles, but ultimately it comes down to you to deal with them once you know of them. It's just a drug/tool, you can buy a hammer but it's just a hammer, you're still the one that needs to do the work, sometimes tools can just make the job easier or help it go along faster but there's still work that needs goes into it.

My experience has been this:
I have terrible anxiety and guilt issues because eof how i was raised.
Shrooms have helped me change how I allow people to treat me, I stand up for myself more at my job. I have worked through the guilt of my divorce, and have finally realized I'm a good dad and that my kids are healthy and happy, that the divorce needed to happen , and that my kids will be ok.
I've worked through anger at my mother for.bringing me up pentecostal and stunting my potential in life. Those came from very introspective shrooms trips, ones that were kind of hard to handle. You can say that if it helps in the end, the journey to get there doesn't matter. But, for me, shrooms make me face those issues directly, and help me become a better human by showing me how shitty of a human I currently am...... that's not easy. It definitely wasn't a change that happened overnight. It took weeks sometimes months.
It's hard feeling like a shitty person for that long, even if the outcome is positive.
Do what you can to better yourself. Then try them. That way you have already started the journey
