Erlenmyer flasks rule!

Super useful for mycology. I pick mine up on Amazon or Ebay for 5$ or less- they are there- just keep looking. Get thick Pyrex autoclavables
Look for threaded flask mouth with a auto clavable lid. If you cant find one, stuffing polyfil tight into the mouth works fine, layers of foil too depending on what you are doing.
I find these perfect for Agar bottles. There is a half litre in the flask in the above photo, I like them especially since the agar sits real low in the flask and I only need a little water in the PC to fill even with the agar line.
Also fantastic for Liquid Culture bottles. I just drill a hole in the lid and pop an SFD underneath. They fit nicely on stir plates and are very easy to pour.

I love my Erlenmyer flasks. If you ever place a order from a sponsor, or alike site, they have foam plugs that are ment for those. I think there under a dollar. I prepped my first agar the other day, and they worked great.
I try to avoid polyfil where I can. Not that there's anything wrong with it. I just prefer the "polished" look, as someone once referred to it.

Erlynmeyers are handy and awesome, but honestly a media bottle is far superior for pouring agar if you were to compare the 2.

Third time I've posted this in mush cult, but I love these sake bottles.

Modified the lids with SFDs, use them for all my agar pouring.
I have some media bottles too but I haven't tried them for agar yet.

Those are pretty awesome man!
I like liquor bottles for agar, I just find one with a good plastic screw cap and put a hole in, pop an SFD up underneath

Aw man I have fucking loads of Erlenmeyer flasks full organic chemistry set up and it never even remotely dawned on me to use them!!! So angry at myself the closest I've come to using my lab equipment is to use 500ml beaker for a cake when I made too much brf mix and not enough jars

I've never found an Erlenmeyer that held what I want and would also fit in my PC.

I like these:

I've stored my flask in the fridge until I had time to get working with the agar without any issue.

What volume flask do you need? The ones that I use (in the pic) are 1 litre flasks and they fit fine.
I think 2 litre flasks would fit too but I dont use those, I only make my liquid cultures in 1 litre batches

my 1000ml flasks fit perfectly just checked I can't imagine me needing more than a litre at a time yet I'm not at the stage I'll need more yet

I need them to hold a minimum of 1L of agar. So a 2L flask. Using 2 flasks, they cool down too fast.
