Harvesting my shrooms

Hey guys, today I had the veils open on just a few of my mushrooms while some of my others are just getting started. My big concern is if I pick the one that are ready, will it interfere with the maturing of the others? Any advice/personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Pick them all at once or as they mature. Choice is yours, not rocket science.

I wasn't asking if it was rocket science, I was just making sure my other mushrooms wouldn't abort if I started harvesting. Better safe than sorry. Thanks anyway.

Cut the base of the stem with a sharp knife and let the others mature.
If you want you can just cut off the caps of the mature ones to keep them from barfing spores everywhere (But I dont see any point in doing this).

I searched and got conflicting opinions so I figured I'd try to get some fresh answers. It is not a crime to ask questions.

Asking gets conflicting results too. There's way more than one way to do everything we do for the most part. Amd you will get answers from noobs that are completely wrong all the time. Hence researching so you know what is worth listening to

Clipping near the base is helpful. If you leave the stump, chances are it'll turn back into mycelium and produce pins for a subsequent flush.

I kinda do both. Some substrates are weak at the edges and twist/pull will tear chunks up
So I go through with a knife, and twisting the ones that I can

Unless you mist it too much, then it'll become waterlogged and grow mold.

How do you suggest handling that?
Just stop misting for a couple days, or just a light barely mist... Mist? I'm sure a somewhat higher co2 concentration plays a role as well. I'd like to do this whenever I can.

Don't mist before or after harvest for at least 24 hours in either direction, basically. Bottom water or something else.
Or like, don't cut them.

Always been a twist n pull guy myself, but I've tried the cut method on a sub once. It worked out pretty well. I end up cutting off the bottom of the mushies anyway so as long as they don't mold

It does work out pretty well since you probably are gonna clean up the base of them anyway but after I saw a few mold over I stopped doing it. I just try to get the most I can out of the first flush and don't count on the second.

Ha me too man. Im usually happy with just one flush anyways, Ill take a second, then I toss my sub unless its a strong tub.
This is an interesting point youre making about the stumps dude

I like to cut my mushrooms from their base as apposed to the twist and poll method. Mushrooms of the same colony do not always mature at the same rate. By cutting the mature ones, you can leave the others behind to finish. I like to get two flushes, so I do what I can to preserve the integrity the substrate. Even with care, twist and pulling mushrooms will rip chunks of your substrate out(some of them), especially colonies. I do this because I grow small batches once in a while and have time to do it. If you are doing large, perpetual grows, you may not have time to nit pick every gram of yield. In that case, harvesting your flush all at once may be a better way to go. Twist and pull is a faster method too. Hope this helps. Happy harvesting!!!

I leave big ol stumps. Always go for a second or third since I grow so infrequently. My substrates dry out from neglect before they go green most time
