Fruiting Chamber Pics and Questions
    #23626657 - 09/08/16 06:09 PM (7 years, 4 months ago)

Hello everybody out there I've been using this website for quite sometime now and have never posted. But now I've got my cakes in the fruiting chamber and was wondering what y'all thought about how they're doing? Any feedback would be much appreciated

The greenhouse looks just fine.  But the tubs in the first few pictures looks kinda funky to me.  Your Myc looks like it having a reaction to something.  Bacteria maybe.

How's your FAE?

They look super wet to me maybe bump up the fae a bit?? If that is water pooling dab it with paper towels it does look a little bacterial

Keep that FAE up.  These tubs are definitely bacterial.  Lots of FAE will keep mold at bay for awhile, maybe even for a few flushes.

Looking good dude, congrats.

Thanks, so on my next run what's the best way to avoid that from happening again? Have better FAE from the moment I put them in the FC?

If it's bacterial it's from your spawn work on agar and your technique as for it being too wet cut down misting or run a fan on low in the room away from your tubs

:whatshesaid: From what I read, if using coir and verm as a sub, and yoU develop bacteria, majority of the time, its from your spawn.

I'm having the same issues with my monos.  Are you working with agar at all?

So by spawn work are you referring to my wbs jars or when I'm making my casings? And also I have an ultrasonic mister running 24/7 to keep the humidity at 95%. I did notice that when I increased my FAE the amount of water in the FC changed significantly so maybe just increase my FAE next time?

Spawn is your jars of grain and myc and if you're running that then keep poky loose with a fan blowing or don't use the mister 95% is not really recommended any more if it's not natural

No I haven't begun to do any agar work but I do plan on it, hmm I wonder why that happens when working with coir and Verm? What's something good to use that is more resistant?

A casing is a layer that goes on your substrate to help provide a microclimate.

Coir and verm is the most resistant if you noc jars straight from the syringe that's your problem start using agar and you will fix your problemo

What do you mean by poky? And if 95% is not recommended then what is?

I meant poly your poly fil... from what I've been told your humidity doesn't matter as long as your substrate has beads of water it will be good

Why can't you just make a still a box out of a 105 qt tub or something? It doesn't need to be a glove box

So it's pretty effective using a SAB? Cuz I've already made one for when I was inoculating my jars and I've got a couple of prints just need a Petri dish and such

I'm not using any sort of Poly fill in my FC it's a 4 tier mini green house. My FAE is coming from the front being unzipped a portion of the way.

80 jars and 8 petri dishes in my sab and I'm still clean. it's more about your technique while using your sab

Oh OK I forgot you had a green house I've never used or know anything about them really I've only used monos and sgfc ...so maybe your rh may need to be higher ?? But definitely keep your fae high with that much rh

Pretty sure the bases have been covered here. I just wanted to add that coir is for bedding of animals. It won't go bacterial or moldy. Even with reptiles pissing and shitting all over it. If you get bacteria, it most defintely is your dirty ass grains.

My technique is not all that great but I've made it work I'm a bit clumsy and shaky ..basically just be as clean as possible fast but steady you will get the hang of how you do things basically you knocking up jars with a syringe is why you had bad spawn 99.99% some people get lucky and never get a bad jar with syringe but it's unreliable get into agar that way you know it's clean
