found these growing in a forest(yorkshire uk) in dead wood/mulch under alder trees whilst looking for liberty caps next to a sheep field.... i have found cyanescens a good few times before but these ones are not bruising blue but other than that they are exactly the same ???? spore print = brown ID pretty please

If they are not bruising blue and the spore print is brown (BROWN), it's unlikely they are cyanescens. Cyanescens have a blackish-brown to purple spore print and "the cap margin will always bruise blue".

To you?
Don't get me wrong (speaking of the unknown specimen above), the cap is lighter, the stem is not a close match and they are more than likely not cyanescens, but this user does see some similarities in the two specimens.

thanks for the replies .... i thought the lighter colour might have been due to the rain washing the colour out . you could tell they had been rained on (this actually happens with amanita muscaria) there was not a trace of blue after hours of waitng plus they didnt smell right so i threw them in the bin !! @H0ldthedoor how is the stem not similar ? looks the same to me minus any blueing,,, cheers for the advice like

They are the suckers I always see from a distance and get excited about, but no dice. Cyans will have a very pronounced wavy cap around the edge IME of every patch/specimen I have ever grown or seen.
Didn't see a spore print etc so not going to coomment pat that, think it should be a good year based on the weather though, going for a hunt and some myco photography tomorrow in fact, let y'all know what the South of UK is saying at the moment if I find anything interesting, expecting a lot of A. Muscaria in my usual patches this year, it has been SOOOO damp and warm for 12 months or so, myc must be happy everywhere...
