Extracting spores from prints

Hello all,
Today I made my first attempt at agar work. I inoculated my plates with spores from a print on foil with an inoculation loop. After 4- 5 swipes from the print, it looked as though nothing had been extracted from it, even after applying a generous amount of pressure with the loop. Am I good to go, or is there something with the procedure that I missed?

-------------------- The biggest trip of my life was realizing all of the events and actions described in posts made by this account were never real and had never actually happened, but were instead the delusional ramblings of a severely mentally ill human being. I just had to move on for my own good. I love you all.

Was that 4-5swipes each plate or just 4-5swipes to inoculate all of your plates?
It usually takes a few days, 2-3days, before you see any development so be patient. Also one swipe would have been enough for each plate. Spores are microscopic so you won't know exactly how much you inoculated from a print.
I think knocking up a plate with a shit ton of spores is bad though and can hinder progress. Do some searching on that one though

After you flame sterilize the loop are you cooling it in the recieving (blank) agar plate before swiping the print? The agar that sticks to the loop really helps to pick up spores.
Also, making tiny circles with the loop like you are scrubbing the print helps. Swipe ththe plate in a zig zag

Scraping spores with a loop can destroy a good percentage of the spores you're trying to gather. You don't scrape a print. The loop should have been cooled in agar. Then it picks up spores fine.

Just did one swipe of the print per plate. I've also read that too many spores are counter productive. Not quite sure why. Also, I cooled my loop in the receiving agar plate before swiping. I know the spores are microscopic, but there is a VISIBLE print of them, and to see none of it removed is perplexing. How would I know if the print was cashed? I guess a better question might be, is there a better way to loosen the spores from the foil?

Just because they will germinate everywhere and make it harder ti isolate clean growth because the myc might grow into or up and over mold colonies or bacteria blobs
