Contaminated PF cakes?
    #23623280 - 09/07/16 07:05 PM (7 years, 4 months ago)

Hi all.

First of all just want to say this is an amazing site and I'm learning so much just lurking and reading. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge!!

I have a question and maybe I'm being paranoid but below is a photo of one of my first cakes. It has a section that look greenish. Does this look like bacteria or mould? I want to be careful. I don't want to eat bad fruits.

I'm using PF Tek but looking to move to monotubgrows in the near future.

That is just "bruising"; mycelium's reaction to stress it receives when birthing, handling etc. Nothing to worry about.

And you don't have to fear eating "bad fruits", as long as the fruit itself doesn't have any mold on it, you can safely eat fruits that grew from contaminated substrates.

Thanks for your reply. I was careful to check for contams during colonisation but didn't notice the bruising until after I'd dunked them.

Just an updated pic of the cake in question. Can I be sure it's not mould?

The biggest trip of my life was realizing all of the events and actions described in posts made by this account were never real and had never actually happened, but were instead the delusional ramblings of a severely mentally ill human being. I just had to move on for my own good. I love you all.

Agreed on the bacterial comment.  Looks kinda Matty but you'll have that sometimes.  If they aren't dry as hell, which it honestly doesn't look dry, then just mist/fan as per usual and just wait for the fruits to come.  All you can do really.

And yeah, post a pic of the chamber itself if you want critiquing.

Don't like researching posts? Read this! . Also, if you're new and your posts contain the words: Humidifer, incubator, air-stone, or heater, then you need to read and UTFSE before asking people to review your setup.  OR... You should be cultivating reptiles and fish, not mushrooms.
