Here is an image, which is close to the colour of the ones I saw growing. The ones I saw where much better looking, and deeper in colour.

So probably an ancient red reishi, not black. Hope they are still around next week.

I was told coir works for reishi as well as lions mane. Pure coir they said. I plan to try it
Edit: coir works for lions mane. Dunno about reishi but I've tried it once to have it mold. I'll try again sometime

Id do something about the loose moldy grains and the patch on the right. Only saying that because mold is a known fruit body pathogen.
Apple cider vinegar and salt mixed in a sprayer. Spray down effected areas, avoid fruits.
Job done, hopefully.

Yeah I noticed those... Some sub and grains spilled over the liner when I made the tubs and I didn't notice until it molded. I already cleaned out most of it but some still shows up every so often.
Next time I'm going to mix the sub and spawn outside the tubs then pour it in so this doesn't happen. Either that or I'll just go without liners.
Some of the substrates themselves actually got a bit of mold too. The reishi myc made horrible looking black metabs around it wherever it appeared and the mold stopped expanding
If this was something other than reishi I'm sure the mold would have ruined it by now. Good opportunity to learn and tighten up my sterile technique I guess.

Some of the tubs are getting a resurgence of green mold unfortunately. I'm probably going to harvest everything tomorrow despite them still growing.
Still trying to figure out the vector. It happened pretty early so I'm guessing it was from the spawn.

Despite that, I still think this proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that reishi will fruit on conifers without an issue.
Final weights were both exactly 345g wet for both substrate types. Terrible horrible awful yield for 10 tubs, but with the multitude of issues and fuckups along the way I'm happy with that.
Thanks everyone who tagged along during this grow and offered advice!

Hey Greg, nice work despite the low yield...they sure are pretty! Not sure what your liner is, but whenever I do a tub, I mix it all up in a trash bag in the tub and then cut away the excess after its all mixed and flattened out in the tub to avoid just the issue you had. Just a thought.

That's not bad . What do you think ,couple months supply? I had 91 grams dry off my 1 - 20 qt tub. Then I screwed up the 2 new tubs I made. They looked dry and so added some water.

Even tho it was a lower yield then u expected it is still a nice yield and a great learning experience! I'm sure ur going to kill it next round.. I wonder if yeild would have been different with a oak instead of pine..
How much tincture will this make u?

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I'm not bummed out at all about the yield as this is just a learning experience like everything else in this hobby.
Considering it was my first go with A2G and monotubs I'm still stoked about getting any yield at all.
I think it'll make quite a lot of tincture but I'm not sure how much yet. I'm giving away a small amount of reishis to a farmer friend who is super in to making tinctures and stuff. Some of my tincture will be going to my parents also. I'll update this when all the tincture is made.
Right now they're all vacuum packed and dehydrated already.
I think I'm going to start a new reishi grow with a different culture really soon.

Oh, new culture? Is it different or still lucidium? I picked a wild reishi this summer only the size of a silver dollar. It smelled for days and smelled the whole car up. Needless to say I was disappointed to not get it cloned. My culture did not have that powerful odor makes me wonder if it is less potent. Did yours have a strong scent?

Haven't actually bought another culture yet so I'm not sure what species I will grow.
These did have a very strong skunky citrus and mushroom smell especially during dehydrating them.
