I just read in GGMM that the antlers loose the ability to conk at a certain point, I think he said 4 inches. I saw this video where this guy is using a block he got as kit that came with a bag with holes to put over his block while it fruited and worked really well from what I can tell, that's where I got the idea to take the bags and grow the antlers invitro, cut open the bags and pack them into tubs that would allow FAE, they would probably need to be misted Im sure. Here is the video with this guys block, I was really impressed.

Yeah the antlers never conked for me in the mono. Forrester was able to get em but he took the lid off the tub and replaced with plast with huge holes cut into it. TBH I'm not sure with mine if conks would have been worth it in the tubs given how much weight I was able to pull from antlers.

I haven't put conks on , worried about spores. In my reading they said to grow out antlers with the lid on . When several inches long take lid off and turn tub on its side. Total fresh air, high humidity is not that important and you will have a micro environment if you have a nice size block of mycelium. They like a lot of light.
The fresh air and the vertical surface help induce the conk. No need for holes in your tub if there s sufficient air space.

I have read that the antlers are about 1/4 of total yield if taking them to conks, but like quad said I too am worried about spores, I'm switching out my whole operation due to being allergic as fuck to oyster spores, that is one reason invitro reishi antlers is so attractive. Do you guys growing conks notice an allergy or irritation with reishi? I can see from pictures they are spore powerhouses.

Im not sure that getting these to conk would have changed the yield much. The biomass could not have filled more available space in the tub.

That is a piece of art itself, wow. Your right, if that conked out it would of been gnarly. Thanks for sharing that Pasty, was that sub supplemented or what?

Just a high spawn ratio. 1:2 rye to oak pellets.

So far Pasty of what I've seen you prefer monos to bags for reishi- is this true?

Nice! So is there an advantage to antlers vs conchs? Conchs sure are beautiful and I'd guess it would be "greater yield" but I feel if they spend their energy conching to early there would be less antlers. I'm still totally new to the species- just now trying to fruit my first bag, so any information would be helpful. Saw from years old posts most people were cutting slits to form just conchs- but I'd bet that had more to do with their market.

I don't know if there is an advantage to conks medicinally (tho I'm sure someone knows if there is) but antlers are certainly the easier yield.

Tincture. It's usually a mix of lucidum, neo-japs, Hericium, shiitake, cubes, and chaga if I have it.

Where did you get your neo-jap culture? I'm trying to trade for one now, just waiting for a response to a PM.
I'd love to grow one of the types of black reishis, but I can't find them anywhere...

It was given to me but it's not easy to grow. That clone had some sneaky bacteria riding along that took some doing to clean up. That grow pictured is actually with the dirty culture.
I got it clean now and was planning to do a giveaway eventually. But life has been fucking me for months now. 2016 can't be over soon enough.
