What's up with this?

I've been doing some wheat jars for a while and most of the jars in this last batch has one or two grains that turned green. It does not look like any mold I've seen before, it looks more like it's rotting or something. I'd love to learn what this is.

Toss that out.
Green can be a lot of different types of mold, doesn't matter too much to identify. It could be Pennicillum, could be Trichoderms.
What type of lids are you using? Also, how are you innoculating.. are you using a clean wedge of agar or spore solution?
Mold that shows itself in spawn jars can be a few things, most often your innoculant, or an error during inoculation, or sometimes lid failure.

I use self healing metal lids and I inoculated these with MS spore. I wipe the inoculation ports with alcohol then inoculate with flame-sterilized needle. It probably is the syringe though, I made some syringes from an old spore print I've made back when I didn't know how to work clean. It's no problem that it is contaminated, I'm just having some fun and experimenting until I can get some prints from my other grows.
The thing is, this does not look like trich nor penicillium. The picture quality might not be the best but that grain is not coated with a dusty green (like what mold would look like) it looks more like it changed it's color to green.
I'll try taking a better picture.

I really doubt that as I PC'd these jars for more than 90 minutes.

You could of had mold spores in the MS, or on the needle tip itself. Out of the first 5 bags I ever inoculated years ago, 1 bag came down with green trich, but the others were fine. Who knows how it happened or where it came from, but I got rid of it quick.

I agree with Mazda. I'd be willing to bet if you shook the jar, it'd be really apparent within 2 days. My opinion is toss.

I think the way it was said was a little indirect. It's molding. Not necessarily from the inside out. If it's from the inoculation, then it's kind of just molding in all directions simultaneously. It's not rotting though because clean sterilized grains can't rot.
