Ive recently done a few more bags of dowels.
Took Ferathers advice with fert and put a few chook poo pellets in with straight dowel and an agar slab.
I must say that this is my prefered method now.
Very quick to colinize.
Its great having the grain left over with the other method to do straw bags but the contam risk is allot higher.

Grain is amazing for nutrition, but I hate the attraction to bacteria due to high starch levels.
Starch free, or limited starch, enriched substrates are much safer.

It instantly became my chosen method too.
